Dr. Joseph Frank Nestola, DO

Have been whit him for over 30 years has always given me great advice and is very knowledgeable.hope to be with him another 30 years

Dr. Nestola has been my doctor for over 20 years. I have recommended many family and friends over the years. We love him. But, without his long-term assistant Victoria, things just aren't the same. I keep asking him when is he going to DEMAND her back, but he just giggles. Seriously, they are a team and as a team were quite successful. I will still stay with Dr. Nestola, but many of his patients are saddened that Victoria isn't at his side. She really is his "right" hand.

I have been a patient of Dr. Nestola's for a few years and thought he was very nice. I have no known health issues, and appear to be in good health. My only medication is a statin for cholesterol which I have been taking for almost 20 years. I have gone to see Dr. Nestola about every 6 months to get a blood test and check-up. On occasion, I have also seen him for vaccinations or a sinus infection, etc. My last check-up was in March. Three months later, towards the end of June, I received a phone call from his office telling me I must make an appointment to see the doctor. When I asked why so soon, they simply said he wants to see me every 3 months now. I was going on vacation and I did not make an appointment at that time. I returned to find numerous phone messages from his office and letters stating that if I do not make an appointment to see him, they will issue a release of my records and patient care. During this time my husband took ill and was hospitalized twice.… In addition, another member of my immediate family had a medical crisis. I returned phone calls from Nestola's office on two occasions and explained my situation, stating that I have been spending my days at the hospital which is almost an hour from my home, that I have been unable to go to work, and could not make an appointment now. Thankfully my husband is now home from the hospital. I called Dr. Nestola's office today to schedule an appointment and was told I couldn't, they had 'discharged' me as a patient. In disbelief, I requested to speak to the office manager, Ann. I told Ann the circumstances I have been coping with since the summer. I told her it is now 6 months since I last saw the doctor, that I do not understand the urgency, justification or their insistence on needing to see me immediately despite all that has been going on with my family. She became quite nasty and said I disobeyed the doctor and could not be a patient any longer. I have been harassed by this office. They offered no explanation as to why there was such an urgency to see me all of a sudden. They were not sympathetic to my extenuating circumstances. I have been an educator for many years and I know it takes a very serious incident to expel a child from school. I feel I have been 'expelled' from this office for circumstances beyond my control. My offense was tending to my first priority, my family. I have already set up an appointment with a new doctor so that is not my issue. I simply want to warn any patients contemplating using Dr. Nestola or his associates about what they might encounter.

Dr. Nestola has the best bed side manner. Been a patient for over 20 years.

Dr. Nestola is a great doctor. He's open to listening and trying new things, and works with his patients every step of the way. I would recommend him to anyone! He's a fantastic physician.

Was diagnosed w/ GERD when it was h-pylori & was dropped from this practice when my husband called him out on it after he's been with them for over a decade. Shame on Island Medical and Dr. Nestola.
