Dr. Joseph Schwimmer

LOCAL DENTIST SUED OVER QUESTIONABLE PRACTICES Pt. Pleasant dentist Dr. Joseph Schwimmer practicing as Schwimmer & Slavick at 1115 Arnold Avenue was recently sued in Small Claims Court, served at his home at 1643 Mink Avenue, Brick, NJ 08755. The suit was related to Schwimmer's unauthorized transfer of a patients balance of $905 to her ex-husband's account without his knowledge or authorization. When the husband requested information about the charges Schwimmer's office sent a response that they were unable provide details due to HIPAA regulations. Further correspondence eventually indicated that the charges were related to the ex wife, divorced the prior year. Additionally while treating the same patient for an infection under an implant an Oral Surgeon put in, the dentist removed the implant and threw it away. He resisted in reimbursing the Oral Surgeon for a replacement but after months sent a check, but charged the patient's account 10% of the cost. After receiving the lawsuit he… immediately sent the patient a check for both charges and the filing fees. The patient had already retained another dentist in the interim, but subsequently received a letter from Schwimmer stating he would no longer treat him.
