Dr. Joseph Shawi, MD

I went to him when he was practicing in Cleveland, Ohio from a referral from another patient, as a fourth opinion for a hysterectomy because I was having heavy, month long menstrual cycles. After reviewing my ultrasound he didn't feel I needed a hysterectomy and did an endometrial oblation, a procedure that was never mentioned to me by any of the three physicians in California I had seem previously. I'm done having children so I was a perfect candidate. I had the procedure done in 2004, and now in 2019 I still have not had any periods and I have all my parts. I love this guy!

I was recommended Dr. Shawi by a friend's parent because I was new in the area. I was treated like a number and honestly felt violated the entire time. I was having some issues I wanted addressed and he dismissed them during my visit. I had to tell the lady up front I was extremely unhappy for him to actually sit down and talk to me. Even then he was trying to get me out of his office as fast as he could. I move a lot and have seen 4+ doctors of this profession and I have never had such a bad experience! However, I thought maybe it was just one bad day and didn't change right away like I should have. I called the office a couple months later for them to go ahead and switch my medication. They told me they would have him call me by the end of the week. Exactly 2 weeks later, I called the office again because I still had not heard from him. They told me there were 2 messages for him to call me from 2 weeks ago and would send another. Still have not heard from him. I have an appointment… with another doctor already just for a simple change in medication he said would do for me over the phone. I would never recommend that anyone ever goes to see him, this is so unprofessional. I would have given no stars in that was an option!

I have been with him since I was a teenager and love him like a father. He is the best at what he does and I trust him with my life!

Dr. Shawi is very gentle with the elderly and listens carefully. He also tries being helpful too with the family. I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Shawi is very gentle when dealing with a patient that is elderly. He is mild-mannered too.
