Dr. Joseph Henry Sklar, MD

Dr. Sklar has been working with my family for nearly 20 years now. Starting with my two sisters, he's helped to fix the same problem in the three of us (Osteochondritis Dissecans). I went in for the first surgery back in 2010, but ended up getting a staph infection as a result of the procedure (Which was not his fault). He worked closely with us, even giving us his personal phone number in case of emergency and coming in late at night to perform an emergency surgery with me. He's extremely nice and I rarely had to wait more than 10 minutes for an appointment. Once he was no longer operating, he recommended we see another doctor in his practice for further surgical treatment. My only suggestion is to be sure you're seen by him, and not his PA, as his PA misdiagnosed me 100% before I was in to see Dr. Sklar himself.

From what everyone told me, Dr. Sklar was supposed to be the best. I beg to differ. He has the personality of a slug, and has a serious communication problem. I didn't even know what I had been diagnosed with untill I looked at my medical records before I went to get a 2nd opinion. He couldn't figure out what was wrong with my knee and swept me out the door. He didn't answer a single one of my questions. I asked him if he could refer me to another doctor and he set me up to see somone else in his office...not exactly what I was expecting. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone.

Instead of arthroscopy, which I needed, and got, two and a half years later from Dr. Wagner, what I got was a cortisone shot, and out the door. Even though I was limping, and supported by my wife on the way into the office. That was it. No comments, no prognosis, no future appointment. Maybe he thought it was a workman's comp case, I don't know.
