I have been seeing Dr. Yi for almost a year now and he completely changed my life for the better. When I first went to see him, I told him that I was depressed, had anxiety and just had no direction. After going over my medical history with him, he made the changes that were needed to make me feel 100% better. He is a smart, caring compassionate human being. He really does care about his patients and really takes the time to understand exactly what a person needs to get back on track again. After being in his care, I can honestly say, that I feel so much better. He introduced me to a healthier lifestyle. Introduced me to vitamins that I take day and night. It made such a difference in my mood and anxiety issues. I actually look forward to my visits with Dr. Yi. I am so happy that I gave his treatment a chance and I feel wonderful. Dr. Joseph Yi runs a truly modern establishment, unlike the scores of stuffy offices I have visited as a patient. This does not mean, however, that Dr. Yi does not take the time to work with you on an individual basis. As someone who is dealing with schizoaffective disorder, Dr. Yi showed me that the old approach of throwing meds at you until you can no longer stand and then calling it a success is not the way to go.

Dr. Yi is the most caring, compassionate doctor that I have ever met. I came to him for my anxiety among other issues and he has made me feel like a new man again. He truly made such a difference in my life. Dr. Yi has truly been a blessing to me and my family.

DISCLAIMER: This review is about Patient Confidentiality. SHORT STORY: I like Dr. Yi, and I believe he has given me some good advice, and I believe he is a good doctor. So, if you are looking for a psychiatrist who will “tell you how it is,” alongside giving motivational speeches and encouraging you to eat healthy, workout, and find a passionate career, this might be your guy. However, if patient confidentiality is important to you, as it was so very important to me, he broke the law when he knew I did not want him to speak with anyone about our meetings/calls/texts. He even specifically used the words in our very last appointment, “I would love to talk to your father but you don’t want me to talk to your parents and I cannot break patient confidentiality.” Well, Dr. Yi broken that oath. He went behind my back and spoke to my one emergency contact - my mother. He broke an oath, both legally, and more importantly, morally, because I was honest with him. For that, I personally… will never trust the man again, and will not be further recommending anyone to his practice in the future. LONG STORY: To explain how close our trust was, I was there with Dr. Yi from the beginning, and on many occasions, he thanked me and claimed that I was a big part of the reason that his practice has reached the success that it has today - that I was responsible for referring many patients to him in the beginning when he was new to the Newtown area. Later on, he asked for me to comment and like his Instagram posts, at his request, even though I knew I was risking revealing my personal life to the ever-open social media. Why might I do this? Because I respected my psychiatrist. I trusted my psychiatrist. I believed that what he was saying was going to help me. I’ve played basketball with this man before, including some of my friends who went on to be his patients. We had good times, and we had bad times, but we always managed to get honest with one another despite any attempt to mask our true opinions given our relationship that seemed to be more than just a psychiatrist to a patient: We were friends. Go and see him if you would like, but you should ask yourself this: Do you want a doctor who befriends you, builds up trust, and then goes behind your back and breaks patient confidentiality? Again, he may be a great doctor for you - that is if you are not concerned with patient confidentiality. Dr. Yi and I have had a long journey, and I am not here to try and bash him, but to merely give you the facts before you make a very important decision which is choosing him to be the one person that you’re supposed to trust with very private information. Highly recommended! This is not your old fashioned stuffy dusty cold psychiatric office but a modernized office with calming feelings of aroma therapy, nature, modern furniture, progressive atmosphere and healthy food snacks on tables like nuts and dried banana/apple chips. Dr Yi helped me with my anxiety and sleeping problems with his guidance of proper eating, exercise, meditation, herbal and vitamin supplements while he directed me away from the typical pharmaceutical bandaids. I was unsure how it was working until I replaced my fitbit after a couple years of not having one and once I synced it I saw the data compared from a couple years ago to now. Amazing, two years ago I was waking up and restless 20-30 times a night. Fit bit shows this by spikes - red for awake and blue for restless and gives you total time that you were awake and total time restless. It was combined to be over an hour or two per night with no consistent periods of deep sleep. As soon as I hooked up the new… fitbit, side by side, I saw sleeping streaks of nearly the whole night with no red or blue spikes. My sleep quality improved beyond my expectations. I fall asleep easier and can sleep longer now. I continue to go to him and have been going for over a year now. I feel at home, I feel I can talk anyway I want and he listens and understands. He still suggests simple changes to my diet like adding more berries and nuts and cutting out certain foods that are not good for sleeping. Thanks!

Doctor Yi helped me out when i needed to get off suboxone and other doctors could not help me accomplish that. He also helped me out with my anxiety and two months later that was gone! Definitely recommend going to him!

Dr. Yi is responsive, caring and very knowledgeable. He is the perfect fit for my 19 year old and really able to connect with him and help him through a really rough time. As a parent I feel that Dr Yi is very in-tune with our our family and a vital team member in the path to wellness!
