Dr. Joyce F Maclaren, MD

I saw her for the very first time yesterday and I was really disappointed. I thought i would like her because she's a woman and I thought I would like her vibe. Her feedback to me felt judgemental. She seems a little out of touch. She's honest, which is great, but it comes out in a slightly hostile way. I'm a Christian and she asked me my beliefs on death. When I told her, she told me I was wrong and cited a verse from the Bible that proves her point. I told her that I can also get a verse that proves my belief and I told her that not every Christian denomination has the same views on things. They can each have a different belief and each of them can get a verse from the Bible that proves their point. Every time she had a judgemental thing to say, I had to counter her and whenever I did, she seemed appalled. I will not feel stupid or bad about myself in therapy. There were other things that happened that I don't want to get into, but oddly enough I did leave her office… peaceful. I learned some breathing techniques and learned about stress hormones and what anxiety does to the body. Although this wasn't the greatest experience, I did learn some things about myself, she was helpful. This was my experience with her. I'm not going to tell people not to go see her because someone may like her. She just isn't good for me

Isn't capable of helping with traumatic issues. I've spent almost 2 years with Dr. Joyce and haven't had any major breakthrough. I feel like I've wasted money as well as time that I could have used to heal. I'm in a much better place now due to my psychiatrist but am seeking someone I can talk things out with to bring things full circle.

This practice is corrupt. They told me the wrong date for my appt, and then charged me $75 fee for missing my "appointment". How can you charge a new patient, that has never seen , for an office error? I'm glad I didn't see this doctor if this is how her practice is operated.
