Dr. J. Richard Lee Evanson, DO

First, Dr. Evanson is phenomenal, truly one of the great physicians, esp. for a surgeon. He clearly cares about patients and has high standards for those around him. In my case he did a superb job on double hip labral repair. If you want a superb hip/knee surgeon, then Dr. Evanson is a no-brainer; just be prepared for the problematic turbid communications via staff. Regarding staff, I have experienced repeated miscommunications. Problems with scheduling - Problems with charges - Problems with patient follow-up coverage. I have attempted to resolve these with staff, however there is a deep resistance to admit that a mistake is made. Instead I am asked, "well who did you speak with [2 months ago]", as though the average person writes down this information. Their general approach seems to be "we don't make mistakes unless you have video-taped evidence of said mistake". There is no global reciprocation to resolve problems. Medical offices are still a business, where by the good… ones universally care about their reputations & customers - OR - They only care on the bottom line. This is another cliché, where bottom line seems to be the order of the day. To be clear, my last issue with their office could have been resolved by a simple admission that repeated miscommunications between my wife & myself have taken place, that these miscommunications are something which they pointedly need to work on with their patients. To add insult to this further, the matter is over simple billing for a sub-10 minute follow-up with a med. asst.; not even the surgeon himself. They can try to say "we asked for who conveyed the wrong information", but again I refer to the prior notion that nobody realistically records exactly who said what & when for every phone / in-person encounter. I haven't spent the last 14 months coming in for 2 surgeries then suddenly pull random facts out of thin air (i.e. lie) - Yet that is how I am treated & you likely will too.
