My brother was in the psychiatric wing of Memorial Regional Hospital after a nervous breakdown and threatening suicide. I called and faxed multiple times trying to talk to his doctor, Dr. Espinosa. I wanted to understand why he was keeping my brother on the same meds that he'd been on and were not effective, resulting in him being sent to the hospital twice in one month. He never called me back despite my leaving messages at the hospital and his office. The staff told me that they don't believe he reads his faxes and in coded language indicated that he did not listen to the staff who actually dealt with the patients. The whole experience indicates negligence and I am disgusted that he would treat a mentally ill person or his family so awfully.
