Dr. Juan Pena Velazquez, MD

I have never had a bad experience with Dr Velasquez but his staff is on a power trip and can't even tell me if I have to pay another patient visit if I come in for a follow up. I just paid 200 for blood work and 160 for a patient visit. As I was leaving I asked the nursr/lab tech if they would be getting with me on the results and was told by they do not contact the patient and I have to call them. I did on Tuesday and was told by the person who answered the results looked OK. I don't know how much knowledge or authority she has to say that but it seems she runs the show there. I asked her to have the the PA call me because I would not have subjected myself to 200 worth of blood tests if I didn't feel there wasn't anything wrong and can't imagine how she has the credentials to pass on my results. I am tired, my hair is falling out and feel sick if I am not on tramadol. Unfortunately she says they dont return calls and when asked on Tuesday if I would have to pay for a follow up… visit she put me on hold to find out and never told me. Monica and I talked about thyroid, iron and hormone deficiency. I am 65 years old and in my experience with drs you discuss your issues with the dr they run tests based on what they feel the issue is and when the results come in the drs ofice calls and says you are fine or that they will prescribe medication or you need to come in for further evaluation. Because the saying used to be no news is good news did not work for me some 25 years ago when my dr and the lab failed to communicate the results of my pap smear for a year or so and Iater found I had cervical cancer I felt it was important to contact their PA Monica but instead I got a know it all receptionist who rather than giving out medical advice should do her real job and tell me if I am going to have to pay for another patient visit if I go in. Instead of dealing with the unknowns and unqualified people I asked if I could pick up my results and without hesitation the receptionist says sure they will be waiting right here for you. Unfortunately, I am inclined to find a Dr that has some follow up protocol because I have gone down this road before. Quite frankly I find that very sad because I have always put a lot of faith in Dr Velasquez and found Monica to be very pleasant and knoledgeable. Perhaps Dr Velasquez needs to pay attention to his reviews and train his staff just a little more thoroughly.

My dad was born in 1963 and he was number #1 for 10 years in a row and was the smartest out of all the health students for 11 years, he still works and is the most hard working doctor ever, I recomend him to everyone, but don't make him stressed out please!

Dr Velasquez is not familiar with most holistic solutions to my conditions. He seems to listen mostly to the drug companies.

This Dr office was terrible the guy who handles the desk is very unprofessional and rude. I would never recommend them to anyone at first they are nice but once you ask for something they get defensive. Alex was a sweetheart the only one who actually helped me even when the Spanish speaking lady couldn't talk to me directly but tell the man in the front what to tell me!

My son, is over 18 and went to see the doctor by himself, but his insurance happens to be under my plan. The staff there seems very monetarily focused. They charged him $128.79, could not wait until they had the services rendered compiled, submitted to the carrier. I have a PPO plan, of which the Dr participates, but the fee was $103.06, the contracted amount was $62.56 so my math shows $66.23 is due back to me (since I reimbursed my child the full amount. Frankie at their office said they would reimburse $56.23. What? Then when I began questioning him, he became a little defensive. I am ready to report this office to the AMA and the governing board in Austin. No wonder we all can't stand Insurance, OBAMA care & greedy doctors.

Need to follow up on referrals, Other then that the staff and Doctor are excellent.

Every single one of my children were ALL diagnosed with asthma and years later not one has shown any signs. My daughter was sent home from school with a fever of 104 and the flu i set up an appointment to have her evaluated for it and they REFUSED to treat her for the flu and insisted it was her asthma and if i didnt like it i could change my pcp was their response . Guess what,thats EXACTLY what i did no doctor is going to refuse my child the proper care and insist on a misdiagnosis.smh i dont recommend them to anybody!

This is a GREAT doctor. I would recommend him to everyone.
