Dr. Judith Blevins Akin, MD

Until her recent retirement from private practice, I was a patient of Dr. Akin for almost 16 years. She is knowledgeable, competent, caring and compassionate. She truly cares about her patients. She asks the right questions and is confident in her abilities. I was only referred to another physician for a 2nd opinion b/c it was required by insurance for a diagnosis. She was able to understand what I could not say. She accurately diagnosed my illness after another physician completely ignored what I said, put me on the wrong medications and would not listen to me. I highly recommended her while she was still in private practice.

she is unable to make her own assessments of patients and relies on the social worker and psychologist to do the work for her. An internist could do a better job. Additionally, I had a similar experience as a prior reviewer where she disclosed my personal information to another physician without my consent. Finally, she is disorganized and cannot keep her patients straight. She at one point could not locate my paper chart. And she speaks at the level of an inept medical student. She needs to be investigated. Additionally, she is always late.

Beware of this quack! I have no idea why I never turned her into the board for breaking the HIPPA law; she discussed personal information without my consent to another doctor! What's even more amazing is I have proof. I tape recorded the entire admission, in addition to her personal apology for doing so. I would not trust this doctor at all. I figured this would all come back to haunt her at some point and hopefully, with this posting, others will beware. I would NEVER want anyone to go through the humiliation that I did by this thoughtless individual! Thank goodness we live in an electronic world!!

In my experience with a lot of psychiatrist, they are often crazier than their patients. Dr. Akin treats your opinions with respect and isn't dictatorial. She seems to really care about her patients and seems nonjudgemental. I highly recommend her to anyone.

Dr Akin in very easy to talk with, empathetic, and open to questions. Very knowledable about medications and conservative in ordering and changing prescriptions. Followup is done promptly and phone calls returned. Would recomend thisd M.D.

Dr. Akins was instrumental in finding the right medications to help me after seeing other doctors and not getting better. She is a very caring doctor and will not allow a patient to suffer needlessly. She's friendly, the support help is good and I wouldn't go to anyone else.
