Dr. Julia Flax, MD

Saw her for my wellness exam.. after I saw her I realized none of my concerns were addressed. (I’m usually very nervous about appts and lose train of thought.) A couple weeks later, I mentioned to my mom (a nurse at cox) how I felt like nothing was figured out and she told me about a new policy with insurance that at wellness exams you can’t talk about current problems you’re having.. & that it’s just a wellness exam.. 5 min quick visit. Any additional problems have to have specific appts. Ok that’s fine I though but I had NO idea. I never go to the dr. So I mentioned difficulty breathing/shallow breathing. She didn’t say a word. Ignored it completely so I figured she wasn’t concerned. I forgot about it. Weeks later I end up in the ER with pneumonia and some scary symptoms that could have been addressed if she would have just explained that I needed an additional appt. healthcare is whack these days. So a total of 8 weeks still dealing with pneumonia at a young age. Worse today then… the day I went to the ER and just wonder how much better I would feel if she would have just mentioned how she has to basically ignore me the first wellness appt. her NP Toni is awesome though! Way more understanding and thorough than her. Not sure why anyone pays for doctor visits anymore.

I really appreciated Dr. Flax. She listened to me & made me feel comfortable during my visit. Her nurse practitioner was great also. I’m lucky to have them as my health care professionals.

I have been a patient of Dr. Flax for several years. She is FANTASTIC! She always has time for me and NEVER acts like she is in a hurry. Her nurses have always been nothing but nice, caring and friendly. Three women in a Wal-Green pharmacy recommended Dr. Flax to me when I first moved to Springfield. I am so thankful I listened to them.

Dr. Flax is professional, compassionate, and friendly. She truly is amazing!

Wow was not impressed at all. She wants nothing to do with you unless you have a cold. Her nurse is so rude and uncaring. Made me realize I have some really good doctors that do care she's just not one of them. Fixing to find a new family doctor.

I have seen Dr Flax since my dr in the same building transferred to another town for several years now. However she has misdiagnosed a few things that I needed surgery for. I would not recommend her at all for anything that you consider serious...colds/flu that would be okay. Her nurse is very rude.

My mother has gone to Dr. Flax for a couple of years now and was told by her that most of the symptoms she was describing were in her head. She said she didn't believe her, was the bottom line. When she finally sought more help in St. Louis, she was diagnosed with ALS. If you know anything about this disease, you know its a HORRIBLE one with a bad prognosis lasting only a few years. The specialists later told her she has had it for about 2 years already. If Dr. Flax would have taken my mother seriously instead of blowing her off as a hypochondriac, we could have found this earlier, and maybe I would have more time with my mother. Be wary going to see her. If you are perfectly healthy and just need a check up, your fine. Otherwise, I would strongly suggest you look elsewhere. Also, her nurse (I can't remember her name) is great at drawing blood without pain, but she has no people skills. Don't expect a conversation with her. She can be downright rude.

Of all the doctors I've seen in Springfield Dr.Flax is one of the most caring and concerned that I have yet to come across , she ask questions with compassion and truly seems to want to help. A rare find

Dr. Flax is very professional and efficient, yet caring, warm and personable. Her nurse is also very efficient but less friendly.
