Dr. Julia Beth Symon, MD

Dr. Symon is a caring physician who is "in it" for her patients. She has the right values and is careful in her treatments. I like her as a person and as a doctor.

I met with Dr. Symon to establish care since I was new to the area and needed a new local doctor in order to get referrals to specialists. Immediately did not get a good feeling about the visit when after waiting for 45 minutes I was taken back into her office while she accepted a phone call regarding another patient. She questioned everything that had ever been or not been done in my past medical history. She requested all sorts of tests including ordering me to go to an eye doctor before visiting her again when there is nothing wrong with my eyes. Her responses were not welcoming to a new patient and I will not be returning if I can help it.

My appointment with Dr. Symon was horrible. From the moment I got there, she was rude, belittling, and mean. She treated me like garbage, and even went as far as telling me my major I'm currently studying in college is a waste of time because a career in theatre isn't a "real job." She told me that my depression and anxiety weren't real and that I just needed cardio. I'm a dancer, I know cardio. She also insisted that a medical condition I have had since birth (as well as my sisters and father; its genetic) I do not have. She came to this conclusion just because she thought I didn't know what I was talking about. And she snobbishly demanded medical records to prove it. She was by all accounts unprofessional. I've never been so appalled by horrible medical practices. DO NOT go see this woman.

Not only was she rude and snobby, but the appointment was a complete waste of time. She didn't go over any problems that I had, didn't let me ask questions about anything else, and shrugged while saying she was an internist. Terrible bedside manner. Every other PCP I've seen has been able to talk about multiple ailments. The biggest concern she had was finding things to bill the insurance company for. I'm going to try and get my co-pay back from the insurance company. If someone at the office had told me the first visit would just be sitting in a dark office being told nothing can be done, I would've scheduled with someone else. Worst doctor's experience I've ever had. I wish I had gotten up and walked out, which is what I felt like doing within 10 minutes of meeting her.
