Julian Schink, M.D., brings more than 25 years of clinical and leadership experience to his role as emeritus chief medical officer of City of Hope® Cancer Centers Atlanta, Chicago and Phoenix. Since his retirement in 2022, he has continued to serve City of Hope in a variety of ways, including his involvement in a program that allows patients to talk to a City of Hope physician about their treatment options and their cancer journeys. A board-certified gynecologic oncologist, obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Schink is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of gynecologic malignancies, including both chemotherapy options and surgical procedures for gynecologic cancers such as ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, uterine cancer and gestational trophoblastic neoplasia. After earning his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Dr. Schink completed a four-year residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois, and a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the University of California, Los Angeles, Medical School. He has held numerous leadership roles. In addition to his position as chief medical officer for City of Hope’s Atlanta, Chicago and Phoenix locations (previously Cancer Treatment Centers of America), he has served as professor and vice chair of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Wisconsin Medical School, medical director of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center and the John I. Brewer professor of gynecology and cancer research at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. Dr. Schink has published widely on gynecologic oncology, personalized medicine and health services research, including over 250 publications and abstracts. He has authored more than 10 chapters in oncology textbooks, with a particular focus on gestational trophoblastic disease, and served as principal investigator and co-investigator for several national and international clinical trials that have improved and expanded treatment options for multiple cancer types. He has served in leadership roles within the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation, and been recognized on multiple lists of the nation’s top doctors.
