Dr. Julie A Connolly, DDS

JDr. Connolly received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from Columbia College in New York City. She continued at Columbia and received her D.D.S. from the School of Dental and Oral Surgery and a Masters in Public Health from the Mailman School of Public Health, as part of a dual degree program. After graduation from dental school, she completed a general practice residency at Mount Sinai Hospital here in New York and then a periodontal residency at Columbia where she received a Masters of Science in Periodontics. Dr. Connolly was awarded The Melvin L. Morris Award for Excellence in Postdoctoral Periodontics at the completion of her periodontal residency program. Dr. Connolly is board certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Connolly has had extensive training in all aspects of periodontal and implant therapy including: non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapy, periodontal plastic surgery, soft tissue grafting, implant site preparation, …sinus grafting, tooth extraction and implant placement. In addition to working in private practice with her father, she is a clinical instructor and part-time faculty member at Columbia. There she teaches periodontics to third and fourth year dental students in the undergraduate dental clinic.
In addition to her clinical duties at Columbia, Dr. Connolly lectures to the dental students on Periodontics. She also leads hands-on and didactic seminars on Periodontal Microsurgery for the periodontal residents at Columbia and NYU. She teaches Dental Ethics to third and fourth year dental students. And, she is involved with the Membership Committee and the Public & Professional Relations Committee at the New York County Dental Society. She is also a volunteer dentist for Donated Dental Services.
Dr. Connolly also lectures to both periodontists and general dentists. Topics she has addressed include: periodontal plastic surgery, tobacco cessation, periodontal microsurgery and the use of local delivery and host-modulation therapy in treating periodontal disease. In of November 2008, Dr. Connolly will present a lecture at the New York Country Dental Society on Esthetic Soft Tissue Management.
She has recently been elected to Fellowship in the prestigious New York Academy of Dentistry.
Outside of the office, Dr. Connolly is an avid runner who frequently participates in road races and has completed several half-marathons. She also loves both playing tennis and skiing. When not involved in athletics, she enjoys reading and crosswords.
