Dr. Julie Lynne Owens, MD

She told me she'd 'never seen anything like this', said she wanted to rule out vaginal cancer, and started looking up pictures of vaginal cancer on the internet and showing them to me (I'm not making this up). She had her nurse try to get me an appointment with the ob-gyn that same afternoon and asked me in an earnest-sounding voice to let her know 'however it turns out'. I was completely whipsawed between being terrified and somehow feeling like it was a mean joke (but why would she do that? Doctors just don't behave that way, do they?) Three nerve-wracking days later, I found out that I had some run-of-the-mill, benign cysts but thankfully no sign of cancer. Whether incompetence, poor people skills, malice or a combination of all three were responsible for Dr. Owens' behavior, it wasn't good medicine and I want no part of it or her.

I have always liked the care I have been given by Dr Owens, although her staff was very rude and unfriendly,the nurses act like robots instead of humans. Recently though Dr Owens seems to be very forgetful and didn't remember the name of a certain skin diasease that she diagnosed me with many years ago. She was bound and determined it was another condition that I had instead, even though I told her.Also recently she has transferd all paitent records over to computers and when I went for an appointment there was no medical history on there so I had to go over it with her again after going to her for 20yrs Making appointments for me without my permission is also another problem recently.

Listens to what I say and provides helpful advice as well as diagnoses. I recommend her.

I've been seeing Dr. Owens for 12 years or longer. She always has an excellent insight and ability to put my rambling descriptions of a problem together and propose a solution. Also willing to discuss alternative to expensive prescriptions. I have been delighted with our doctor/patient relationship and hope she remains in practice many more years.

My overall experience has not been favorable. I have several concerns with this physician and her staff which I have expressed.1) The rushed and unfriendly manner of the front staff and nurses.2) The lack of interpersonal or should I say mechanical personality of the nurses.3) The incomplete communication of the physician and dis-interest in the goals of the patient in care.4) Delayed or misdiagnosis of conditions or illnesses5) Complete lack of follow-up including prescription needs6) Lack of follow-up on testing and patient education7) This physician treats by sight and not the whole patient

Dr. Owens is wonderful as a caring physician. She listens carefully to your symptoms and then helps you form a plan for treatment of/elimination of those symptoms, whether it be by medication, exercise, or other means. Her staff is also excellent. Dr. Owens, unlike many physicians, knows what fibromyalgia is and how to treat it. I can wholeheartedly recommend her to you!

If you enjoy a doctor who is concerned and thorough and still very practical and aware that not everything requires another prescription or extra doctor visits, Julie Owens is THE choice to make. I chose Dr. Owens 12 years ago because her office was convenient. She has moved her offce so now I choose her because I like and trust her and know that she looks at my file and sees me - not pieces of paper!

Dr. Owens has given me excellent care over the past three years.Her diagnosis skills are top notch and she spends quite a bit of time with me explaining in layman's terms what is going on and the plan to fix it.I am quite shocked at the negative comments regarding her staff. I have yet to have the slightest problem and Latrece has been extremely professional and very helpful in setting up my apointments with Dr. Owens and outside specialists.My total experience is a 10 out of 10.

Dr. Owens is great. She did not judge me with my rather embarrasing problem and listened very intently and patiently. She was sweet and caring. I loved her and I have only seen her once. However, like most of these reviews her nurse Latreece is HORRIBLE!. She never returns my calls and I will call like 5 times in a row and leave 5 messages just to prove a point. The receptionist is very ghetto and unprofessional. I loved the doctor but did not like the staff. They need to get some more caring staff in there before they start losing patients.

I very much like Dr. Owens. She is very engaged with the patient and takes as long as she needs, never rushing you. The staff is something else. The nurse does not return calls promptly and does not do her job with accuracy alot of the time. There is much room for improvement in these area.
