Dr. Justin Alan Malone, MD

My wife and I have seen Dr. Malone over the past 5 years. She gets botox shots around her eyes because of a facial twitch. We are looking for a new neurologist because when we get our appointments, they always get changed to another time and/or date. Living 2 hours from Columbia, we make other appointments to coincide to save us from driving several times to Columbia and rescheduling messes up our plans. So he is not dependable, even though he is a good doctor.

I had seen 2 other dDrs. that told me to continue what I did....hello I would have done that on my own. What a joke. Dr. Malone was direct and effective. Right on point and as soon as he was available. I was fixed, comfortable, and loved that someone understood, and that was Dr.Malone. hands down the best. My own PCP even recommends him first. Understood the problem, what was tried, and worked w me as a patient. Totally trustworthy and will always use .

I will tell everyone I encounter who might need to see a neurologist to stay away from Justin Malone and his associates at Neurology, Inc. My husband was treated by Dr. Asher several years ago and was subjected to painful and expensive IVIG infusions for a supposed autoimmune disease. Fortunately, the correct diagnosis of Parkinson's and peripheral neuropathy was received elsewhere. I was treated by Dr. McLaren about 9 years ago for seizures which started when my former primary care physician put me on Lunesta and Ambien sleep medications because of a sleep cycle problem caused by my liver disease. I returned to Neurology last month for advice on tapering off my remaining anti-seizure drug Keppra, because of the side effects and its ineffectiveness in preventing seizures which ended up being exclusively nocturnal. I told Dr. Malone that I was successfully preventing these seizures by avoiding stress, avoiding dehydration by drinking plenty of water with electrolytes added, and avoiding… low blood sugar at bedtime by eating a large serving of fruits recommended by doctors who know something about preventing nocturnal seizures. Dr. Malone refused to listen to me but ordered me to take another prescription drug in addition to the one I was already taking because this "controlled substance" is "different". It is contra-indicated in persons with liver disease, so I was ordered to have blood tests done in 2 weeks and again in 6 weeks. He also ordered my husband to take Lyrica which is used to treat seizures and can cause glaucoma. My husband is already scheduled for glaucoma surgery! Anyone who knows anything about seizures knows you cannot quit taking anti-seizure drugs cold-turkey. That's all I need: for my husband who already has enough health problems including recent hospitalization for a heart attack to start having seizures. By the way, Dr. Malone ordered me to have a repeat EEG, which I had that day at his on-site state-of-the-art sleep center and which was normal. He also told me he was going to report me to the Department of Motor Vehicles to have my driver's license taken away, which he did, even though my previous neurologist said I was perfectly capable of driving and have never caused an accident or received a citation of any kind and any supposed seizures I was having occurred only in my sleep. People with exclusively nocturnal seizures dot NOT have seizures in the daytime! I know I am wasting my time because this review will never appear here, but a detailed evaluation of this physician and his company will appear elsewhere. By the way, when Dr. McLaren made me give up driving for 6 months around 2007, it was a major hardship for me, as the only caregiver for my elderly disabled husband. I guess we will have to look into the local free scheduled transportation services for the disabled, which fellow taxpayers have to pay for. If you want a doctor who will intimidate you and treat you with a holier-than-thou attitude, see Justin Malone.

Very professional and explained all options for us to look at and access. Dr Malone spent a great amount of time explaining all my previous tests, films and conclusions while offering various options available for me to conclude regarding my condition! Natty dresser and very cool socks!!!!!! Great, dry sense of humor! Was hugely pleased!

Follow-up was not necessary. Husband experienced transient global amnesia day before a scheduled shoulder replacement surgery. His surgeon and Dr Malone felt that more tests were needed to insure that there were no hidden problems before Dr. Bormann would do the surgery.

I believe Dr Malone to be the best neurologist I have ever seen.

I have had experience with 12 doctors in my lifetime.Eight surgeries many many office visits. This doctor and staff are the best i have ever seen. They do everything they are suppose to do on time .Great job Doctor Malome

Dr. Malone saved my life. I had a rare brain disease and his attention to my disease and his desire to find a treatment were amazing. He seemed to have a passion to find all the info he could on the disease and to find a treatment. Thanks to him, I am alive today. We trusted him so much that we never had any thought of going for a second opinion. He reassured us that he had done the research and provided excellent care.

Most neurologists are a bit strange...but I found Dr. Malone to be quite 'normal'. He is honest, caring and is excellent in explaining my medical issues and options for treatment. I have recomended him to others, and all have been satisfied. I find some of these negatives hard to believe; doesn't sound like the same Dr. Malone I have been treated by.
