Dr. McCarthy saw my Mom in the hospital and he is a nice man. He performed a upper GI and discovered 5 ulcers. He prescribed 2 medicines but had an assistance write the orders. She is suppose to take for an extended period of time but they only wrote for 30 days. I called for 3 straight days in a row and so did the pharmacy but WON'T RETURN CALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I finally called and spoke to the front desk and they won't refill as they said she needed to come in and see him to get a refill. SERIOUSLY???!!! It is just their way of scamming Medicare/Insurance for money. Nothing has changed in 23 days as he said it would take 1 yr to heal. So disappointed in health care in general but so disappointed in the lack of communication on their part as none of this was conveyed to me or my Mom nor a phone call to follow up or an appointment set.

Dr. McCarthy is not only a wonderful Doctor, but a very decent man. As a Doctor, he is living in a world of bureaucracy and regulation, but he still manages to practice medicine in a fair, effective, and compassionate manner.

I have used Dr. McCarthy for 6 years. He has always taken very good care of me and my needs. His office staff are very rude and treat those that can’t pay in full awful. The saddest part about this is Dr. McCarthy allows it!!

Dr. McCarthy is God sent! He is caring, he listens, and he is wise and knowledgeable. I'm so glad I found him!

Most knowledgeable and professional physician! He takes time to listen and does not stop til he finds the correct diagnosis and treatment! Fantastic staff!

Dr. Justin McCarthy discriminates based on age. My daughter is 18 and attending SFA. Dr. McCarthy will not see her because she is not 20. The nearest Gastroenterology is in Lufkin 20 miles away. My daughter could walk or ride her bike from her dorm to Dr. McCarthy office. But she can't go to Lufkin.There is no legal difference between an 18 year old and a 20 year old.
