Great visit. Highly recommend Dr Mhoon

I saw Dr Mhoon for sudden onset of debilitating symptoms presumed to be neuropathy. After conducting blood tests to rule out medical conditions and performing cursory EMG and nerve conduction studies he diagnosed a generic type of small nerve neuropathy & suggested treatment with an over the counter supplement & external cream.He did not suggest any further tests or follow up appointments. Although he had access to my entire medical history, all at Duke for the last 25 years, & I also told him about this history, he neglected to factor any of this into his diagnosis . His solution did no good & in fact my condition worsened considerably to the point that I am now facing a very high risk major surgery of decompression & fusion of 3 levels of vertebra in my spine. My spine surgeon (also with Duke) confirmed that my original symptoms six months prior were common for spine problems and ,along with my Duke documented history of prior neurological and spine related problems, should have… been a red flag to him. Needless to say, nothing else matters to me except this horrible experience over the last 7 months & this severe outcome which, perhaps, may have been prevented if he has just done his job.

Really enjoy my visits to the doctor and I don't say that much.

Dr. Mhoon is a very patient oriented doctor who goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable. He is also a great doctor who is observant and intelligent. He also works well with insurance companies and will go to bat with them for the patient. I have referred my wife and other family to him and they are equally impressed. If you need a neurologist I would recommend him highly.
