Dr. Jyoti Jitendra Upadhyay, MD

I brought my 2.5 year old son in to have him looked at for an adhesion after his circumcision and Dr. Upadhyay immediately saw an issue with something else that required a surgery (along with the adhesion as well). I had no idea my son had anything wrong “down there” but boy am I incredibly grateful for her. She was very knowledgeable, kind, and never made me feel like I was annoying her with all my questions. My son’s surgery went perfect. She explained every single step of what she was going to do and gave clear instructions on how to care for him. He healed beautifully and hopefully we will never have to go through that again. Now that it’s all behind us, I will say I was very nervous about seeing her after reading some reviews. My experience with her was amazing and I would highly recommend her if you have a son requiring a penile adhesion release or meatotomy due to meatal stenosis. She knows what she’s doing.

Dr. Upadhyay was very rude and disrespectul when we brought our child for checkup. She treated me and my husband like we do not know anything we were talking about despite the information being obvious. She only spent like one minute with us and ignored our inputs and concerns and left us. If you want a caring pediatric urologist, stay away from her.

Jyoti will make you feel like you have no idea what you are talking about even though you are an adult who is able to do your own research. She spends less than a minute to talk to her patients, and she always looks like she wants to go somewhere else. She does not invest time in understanding the patients' concerns which is a very bad example for someone in the healthcare field. If you want a pediatric urologist in Pensacola area, look somewhere else.

Dr. Upadhyay is THE BEST urology doctor CHKD has. She can be very upfront and blunt, but it's because she is extremely skilled and knowledgeable. She explains every detail and draws diagrams to help you understand visually. She saved my daughter's left kidney from hydronephrosis, megaureter, UPJ &UVJ obstruction! Dr. Upadhyay is ALWAYS precise with everything she does. I wouldn't recommend anyone else for my daughter.

Dr. Upadhyay has been my daughters Urologist for the past 6 years. She listens to our symptoms and concerns. Dr. Upadhyay's treatments has minimized my child's illness and symptoms. She always informs me, the parent, of the pro's and con's of everything she is prescribing and advising me how to correctly perform the treatment she is prescribing. Upon entering the room Dr. Upadhyay greets me and my nonverbal child. Even though my nonverbal child cannot communicate Dr. Upadhyay treats her as though she would treat any typically developing child. I am thankful for the care Dr. Upadhyay has given my child over the years. Her staff is always helpful and ready to assist us. Several times Dr. Upadhyay's staff has had to appeal insurance denials for my child and they have worked diligently to get the supplies needed for my daughter. I would highly recommend Dr. Upadhyay as she has been a blessing to our family.

We had great experience with Dr Upadhyay evaluations our daughter and making recommendations. She is very friendly and loves children, takes a lot of time talking to parents and explaining options.

This is her 3rd time operating on my grandson. The 1st one she changed to a 2 part surgery, 6 months apart. Now she thinks something is wrong with the 1st one and wanted to do a minor surgery (3rd one) because she thought his tubing was clogged up. She told us she was going to scope him to see if it was clogged and if so, she was going to unclog it. After she was finished, she came out and told us, she basically had to do a whole surgery on him like the 2nd surgery. This was not discussed with us, prior to her performing on my 3 yr old grandson. It was not life or death and we should have been informed of this prior to her doing this. Now he is in a catheter for the next 2 weeks. She will not be performing anything else on him. And I pray she has not messed up anything else (kidneys) in the long run. If I would have seen these reviews prior to, my daughter would of had to find him another doctor. This one seems to think the bigger the surgery, the more she will get paid.

Dr. Upadahay is AMAZING, she eased every concern that myself and my husband had about our sons surgery. I didn't think I would like her in the beginning because she's very direct but she's very caring and on point when it comes to your child's care! She did two surgery's on my son and she called both times to check on him and even walked me through the changing of his bandages, which took almost 30 minutes! Love her!!!!!

She doesn't have good bedside manner or empathy. She talked down to me and my husband as if we couldn't understand what she was telling us. My child sees several specialists at CHKD and we are now looking at a different pediatric urology provider due to the treatment we have received on several occasions.
