Dr. Kai Mithoefer, MD

I have had Dr. Mithoefer perform 2 different surgeries on me over the years and am very happy with both surgeries the most recent one happen earlier in the week. The overall care has been wonderful and would not go to anyone else for either knee or shoulder trouble

I had Dr. Mithoefer a couple of years ago for a torn meniscus. He did a wonderful job and I was back to my every day walking in no time. This year I have returned to Dr. Mithoefer again but for my other knee. He is always on time and explains things so that I can understand what is causing my knee pain. I would highly recommend Dr.Mithoefer and will continue my care with him.

I saw Dr. Mithoefer for ACL surgery in January 2025. In the pre-op consult he told me I'd be off crutches within a day or two and back to full range of motion within a month. That sounded optimistic, to put it politely, and my physical therapist thought the same. I even asked Lisa, the PA, if I'd heard him right. To my very pleasant surprise this optimistic prediction came true. All of my appointments have run on time, surgery was 100% smooth, and all of my interactions with the doctor and PA have been pleasant and professional. Online interactions with the administrative staff can feel a little chaotic but the quality of care is A+

A well mannered gentleman, who is very focused on your issue at hand. Extremely knowledgeable , he listens to your concerns and executes a well thought out plan of action, whether surgery or PT. I liked him so much I referred my wife to him for her knee issue as well.

DR Mithoefer is a top notch surgeon that is cutting edge. He used a new surgical technique on my knee to regenerate my own cartilage rather than replacing it. I was able to get access to this futuristic technology by being part of a study years before it is going to be available on the market. My knee is doing really well and l am so impressed with Dr. M’s skill and compassion throughout the entire process. He has my highest recommendation.

Prior to injury/surgery, I was living a very active and demanding lifestyle. I work in a physically demanding job and compete in many different martial arts as well. 10 weeks post op I was cleared to return to work and sport with virtually no limitations. Everyone's injuries are different/more severe, but I returned so soon due to my extremely strict adherence to Dr. Mithoefer's protocol, not missing a single PT appt, and potentially due to receiving a PRP injection (not cortisone). He called me the day after surgery and we had a chat about the repair, PT, pain management, and anything else I had questions about. It made me feel very cared for. I suppose I am "lucky" there weren't any unforeseen setbacks or complications. But when it comes to surgical rehab, you need to create your own luck by working hard at PT, not skipping PT appt's, being patient, and listening to one of the best medical professionals; Dr. Mithoefer. I have recommended him to my co-workers, family and… friends, and will continue to do so as long as he is practicing medicine. My response to the reviews under 5-stars: I understand every case and injury is different. I was fortunate enough to be in good health prior to surgery and successfully rehab post-op. But I do think it is a bit frustrating that patients (whom most have ZERO medical experience or understanding) can under mind a top-notch surgeon who has devoted nearly their entire life to improving those same patients' quality of life, with a review that takes less than 5 minutes.
