Dr. Kalpana P Kelkar, MD

Dr. Kelkar does not always consider the whole picture nor the perspective of parents. She becomes extremely defensive when confronted with questions and will take a child's perspective over a parent without even considering the source. We have had to request second opinions from other doctors in the practice for viable resolutions. She will even allow teens to ×´split×´ adults and alienate parents.

I took my two year old daughter in for a well visit. Dr. Kelkar did not get height or weight for my daughter. She left us at the scale and told me to get it myself. She never introduced herself to me or my daughter or made her feel comfortable before grabbing her ears and sticking her light in her mouth. The doctor called me a liar about skills my daughter has obtained, and then told me that my daughter has a developmental delay-- all after 5 minutes of seeing her for the first time. Never again, Never.

The practice itself I would definitely recommend. Ease of appointment and promptness of service is first rate. However, my daughter was admitted to the hospital and I was treated like a second class citizen in front of my child by Dr, Kelkar. Her bedside manner is horrible. When asked to be accountable for some questions we had concerning our daughters care, Dr. Kelkar got very defensive and made some very outlandish accusations regarding myself and my family. Keep in mind my daughter was in fact in the room and in the hospital during her visit. Both of my children have been in the care of kids first for well over a year. I would strongly recommend seeing any of the other Doctors at this practice but avoid appointments with Dr. Kelkar.
