Dr K and his Staff has changed my world.

After years with Dr. Patel, he finally decided he didn't want to work with my insurance. In order to get my meds, he had to fax in preauthorization paperwork, like he did once a year for many years. This year, it was too much work for him and he did "all he could", wiped his hands clean of my insurance and said it would be up to me to deal with them. His utter lack of care for his patient -- me -- put me in a bad situation. Insurance would not authorize the pharmacy to dispense my antidepressant and I was force to quit cold-turkey or pay for it completely out of pocket (some $600/month) -- all because he didn't want to deal with my insurance/me anymore. Today, I pleaded with him to help me and in his usual arrogant way, he told me I was free to "find another doctor". So, I walked out. Over 5 years with him and now I am no longer his patient. He really should retire. His days of caring for patients -- if he EVER did -- are well behind him. He broke his hippocratic oath today --… he did at least this patient harm. AVOID THIS DOCTOR.

Yrs with Dr.K was not terrible but lacking. It was much better when I was seeing one of the counselors in his office. Things were more productive bc I would spend an hr.with a therapist that took notes for him. Therapy became unproductive after a couple of yrs. I continued with Dr.K only. Basically to continue my two meds. The last yr after many yrs on the same med I complained that the meds weren't working and was crying daily with great depression. He kept my meds the same and I plugged away for 6 more months. I ended up going through a PHP -Partial Hospitalization Program. I was diagnosed with severe MDD and was 5 days a week 9-2:30 A Very professional Team of Psychiatrist/ Therapists/Nurse/staff cared for me in group type therapy. My meds were changed to better help me. When they release a person from the program, they release your information back to your psychiatrists to follow through. Dr. K. saw me one last time. Claiming I hadnt seen him in 6 mths. (1 month past my scheduled… apt with him) and only bc I was in the PHP PROGRAM! Dr. K. Patel dropped me! I was left with no mental health care. Because I helped myself? I don't get it. I felt disgusted, angry and couldnt understand being punished, abandoned. Now I seek out a new Psychiatrists before my meds run out? Is this for real. Slowly I am losing faith in good health care anymore. He sent me a letter telling me since I started seeing another Dr. (And he gave the wrong name of Dr) Then refered me to clinics in my area.

Takes no time with you, bad bedside manner, doesn't care and quick to false judge

I was specific on the phone when I made the appointment that I have been diagnosed as borderline, so it should have been clear that I was seeking help for a serious disorder, yet the dr. met with me for less than a minute before he told me he wouldnt treat me. I needed to go someplace else. I felt humiliated. I went to my car and cried. Why is a mental health physician treating a mental health disorder like a plague? I am embarassed and hurt. Not what I expected from a psychiatrist.
