Dr. Kanwaljit Singh Ahuja, MD

Since I needed to see a neurologist, Dr. Ahuja was one of several referrals given to me by my primary health provider, and I wish I had chosen one of the other alternatives. Although given my past experiences with neurologists in general, this might not have made too much of a difference. First of all, Dr. Ahuja's office is extremely antiquated (old building/furnishings, among other issues – it looked really dilapidated inside.). It took some email exchanges and WEEKS before I was able to see him as you CAN’T make an appointment over the phone or Internet. That’s right, in this day and age when all of the medical facilities are synched up into a major patient portal where you can make appointments, check lab results, see your medical history, send a message to your doctor, etc., he had NONE of those options available. The receptionist wasn't very good either, both in email and in person. When I finally saw Dr. Ahuja, he was very cold and disinterested in my medical issue, just… jotting rudimentary notes and interacting very, very little. He had very poor bedside manners. There was not much in the way of him asking follow up questions to probe further, and he couldn’t even muster up a casual conversation to lighten the mood (hey, I tried). After it was all said and done, he told me to get a specific MRI done, and to follow up in three months. I did both, but on the appointment day, his office was closed! He no-showed/no-called! No explanation! Calling his office several times only resulted in the phone ringing off the hook and eventually going to voicemail. There was not even a sign posted outside to say that they were closed or why they were closed. I half-expected to see a “Gone Fishin’” sign on the door. Since he wasn't set up for a patient portal, there was no reminder by phone or email, and there was also NO word of cancellation. And I never received a call asking why I didn't show up for my appointment, when it was the other way around. Lastly, this office was also NOT set up for payments other than cash/check. This is not how to run a business, never mind the above issues. A terrible experience from top-to-bottom.

I have had a referral for this Dr. for more than 2 weeks and they have not returned my call for apt. and I finally called the DR. but he hung up the phone on me. Seriously!!!!!!!

H seems to be a good doctor but his office manager is totally incompetent which makes me wonder why he has her. Not sure if will go back due to her ignorance and rudeness

Dr. Ahuja is a kind man and seems to be a competent doctor, but his office is impossible to work with. The office is only open for a total of 10 hours a week, so he's very difficult to contact. His administrator is rude and bossy, and talks non-stop. She's also totally incompetent. She can't get the fax to work, and even the phone system seems to be a challenge for her. She lies and says she's done things that she hasn't (assured me my records had been sent to another office, but they were not).

He takes time to listen to you. He explain everything so you can understand about your plan of care including medication. Office never pack.
