I am positively shocked by the negative reviews! Dr Deaver Chang delivered my first baby and is also my OB for my current pregnancy. I thoroughly appreciate her humor and patience (I am a tad high strung) as well as her straight-shooter attitude. Tell it to me like it is, and then listen to my questions! She’s wonderful. I would highly recommend her and her practice!

Had my first pregnancy under the care of Dr Kara Deaver (not yet Chang at that time). I chose her based on a recommendation from a trusted friend since I had just moved to the area and was fumbling to find an OB quickly. My husband and I were completely new to pregnancy and had no family locally - she was aware of all of this. She was often blunt, cold and unsympathetic during regular checkups, but I felt appeased by the warmer nature of several of her colleagues since I was encouraged to meet them as any of the docs may have ended up delivering my baby. My husband and I took birth coaching and "what to expect during labor" classes, and as life would have it, my labor didn't go anything like what I was expecting or had learned about. When my water broke at night, I called Dr Deaver as instructed and she was rude, harsh and sounded irritated on the phone. Wow! I was trying to describe the details of what was happening as I was nervous, and she literally said "I don't need to hear all… that." I remember that line as clearly as it was said yesterday. That certainly took me aback and the typical me would have given her a piece of my mind, but I kept thinking about the fact this doctor would be delivering my baby and the health of the child was priority. Perhaps when someone delivers tons of babies, they no longer care about bedside manner, but this was such a sad start to my first baby being born. An anxious, first time pregnant mom-to-be, being snubbed and reprimanded is not the experience I'd wish on anyone. My labor ended up being so long, I was lucky enough that one of Dr Deaver's kinder and more patient colleagues ended up delivering my sweet boy. Now that I've had multiple children, I must say finding a wonderful OB who gels well with your personality is key to a great pregnancy experience. Be aware of rude, impatient OB's who treat you like an afterthought and a number.

Terrible

Dr. Deaver-Chang is truly a great doctor. I met her under difficult circumstances of having a miscarriage and she took wonderful care of me. She is kind, understanding and most of all has wonderful bedside manner. I switched to being her patient from another doctor in the same practice, I found her to be much better.

She delivered my baby and it was the worst experience ever. I have had 4 kids and nothing like this. She was unprofessional and chatted with nurses ...

Couldn't have had a better experince with Dr Deaver. She was the right doctor for US, with a manner and style that WE value. We had a high risk prenancy that almost ended up in an emergency C section. Dr Deaver was informative, direct, and made sure we understood the issues and options - often spending extra time in the exam room to answer the myriad questions first time parents have. Previous reviews have critcized her for being rude or condecending. If you need warm and fuzzy, or need to be treated in a special manner, get another doctor rather than trash them online. Medicine is not in the hospitalty industry, which means you need to assess and develop relationships rather than pay for and expect a level of service.From our perspective, we couldn't have asked for a better human to guide us through the harrowing experience of a high risk pregnancy. We miss her at CWHG but know she will be loved by many patients elsewhere.

To make a very, very long story short, due to her inexperience & lack of knowledge of basic medicine, she could have lost the life of my child, or caused a serious neural infection--(which would have had a devastating affect for the rest of my baby's life)! I am appalled & disgusted by this doctor! Even though I expressed my concerns to her during my labor & delivery, she was careless, disrespectful & even condescending. She paid very little attention to my situation, even brushed me off, & with the seriousness of my particular situation, it was one of the biggest mistakes she could have made. My child ended up in the NICU because of something that could have EASILY been prevented, if she were to be attentive, caring, & most importantly, knowledgeable in her field. I'm not sure how she passed med school. There are several doctors in my family & they were all shocked by the mistake she made. STAY AWAY from this doctor! I can say, honestly, that your child's life depends on it. I am… sending this message merely to protect everyone. PLEASE take this into deepest consideration!

She was my OB for my first pregnancy, and she was great. Always answering my question, spending at least 20 minutes with me at each appointment. The delevery was easy and she respected all my wishes.Great doctor

Dr. Deaver is professional and caring. I enjoyed working with her and will use her for my subsequent OB/GYN needs.
