Dr. Karen Lynne Ashby Vincent, MD

First, my appointment was scheduled over a month in advance, and I was looking forward to meeting a new provider in hopes of establishing a healthy relationship with a OBGYN. Dr Ashby was running over an hour behind on my appointment day, which is frustrating however would have been understandable if my appointment was met with better care. She didn't apologize for running behind and brought the shame hard. I told her this was my first OBGYN experience and long-overdue, but Dr. Ashby didn't meet me with any explanation or educational information during our visit that would have been nice to receive on my first ever. She asked me if I was on the pill, which I replied no to. Then she asked me to explain my opinion about the pill, and for health reasons I have chosen not to take it (including my mother having a blood clotting disorder and my sister having a life-threatening reaction to the pill). This led to Dr. Ashby asking me if I use other forms of contraceptives and I explained that… I do, mainly by tracking my cycles and knowing when I ovulate. She then asked me, "Are you ok with getting pregnant right now?" I replied with "No" (obviously, but that is why I take the precautions I do with tracking my cycles and other care).. She then threatened, "If you continue to have unprotected sex, you're gonna get caught." I was SHOCKED. A health professional just tried to scare me in a setting where trust is vital and I clearly expressed that I do care for and have educated myself on the female hormone cycle and how to best avoid pregnancy, (or when the time comes, get pregnant.) She also said to me, "I want you to know that pregnancy is far more dangerous than any birth control pill." (WTFFFFF!?) I replied, "Well how? What do you mean?" and she said, "People die every day." And I just stared at her in disbelief and confusion, so she continued, "Sometimes its just blood, they bleed out." (I'm just as confused by this comment as you probably are reading this review).. And this is when I realized Dr. Ashby was the worst doctor I have ever come in contact with. In a matter of 15 minutes, she met me, judged me and attempted to instill fear and doubt within me. A doctor is meant to provide you with a safe space to have educational conversations about your body and health. She did none of this. Her agenda was to put me on a birth control pill and when I respectfully denied and explained the dangerous reasons why (for me personally - I never made generalized statements or expressed judgment against the pill for other people) Dr Ashby attempted to make me believe that pregnancy was more dangerous than the pill she was eager to sell me. Imagine if I believed her, went on the pill and experienced a life-threatening reaction like my own sister and mother. Or imagine if I were to get pregnant and instantly went into fear because she told me its more dangerous than the pill. As a doctor, Karen Ashby failed me. She failed me in multiple ways this day, judged me, attempted to shame me and give up the trust I have built with myself and my own body. She was rude, belittled me and took away the excitement I walked in with about having the opportunity to have an educated discussion around my body and the female care I was expecting to get. Quite frankly I am disgusted with her as a provider, as a woman and as a healthcare professional myself. I'm writing this in hopes it reaches Dr. Karen Ashby, and she becomes better for the patients that walk through her door in the future. As for me, I will never return.

I have been going to Dr. Ashby for the last 10 years. She makes me feel comfortable and I'm able to ask her questions. And she answers them without making me feeling like she's rushed to get to the next patient. I have recommend my youngest daughter go to her during her pregnancy. I just love her professionalism. I'm only sorry that she will not be my Dr because I'm relocating to another state. I wish her the best and truly hope I find another Doctor of her caliber where I'm going.

I saw Dr. Two or Three times. When I first her ,she was recommended to me from my EX Primary Doctor with whom I hated to part with. Because my Primary Care Doctor said she was very good ,I had instant faith in her(Ashby) that is. I was given one pap smear which was okay. the next year she sais I did not need another The next was when the Incidental diagnosis came about I was hospital for something else. The hospital staff got me down stairs for this appointment. I had to wait for at least forty five minutes or more. Mind you I was sick but I realized how important this appointment was. When I was called Dr. Ashby was the rudest ever. She told me this was not an emergency visit and she did not see me. So right then and there I knew that she could not be included in my care'! So now for my Gynecology care I go to another Institution .The Doc from this hospital advised me to continue on with the annual test. Maybe for either younger people, or for folks that have been with her for… awhile she is ok ,not for me. The finding was a cyst and I thank God it has not grown any more. Not for me.

I love Dr. Ashby!!! She was prompt, professional, and polite. I love the staff as well. Great service and I would highly recommend Dr. Ashby to other:-)

Wonderful physician, very personable

Dr. Ashby did not take sufficient time with me when I was having concerning medical problems. I ended up in the hospital with symptoms that could have been explained to me and medication could have been prescibed at an office visit but it was very difficult to schedule and appointment.

I was disappointed that after developing a strong rapport with her she did not deliver my baby. I was unaware that there was a chance that she would not deliver.

Dr. Ashby has been my doctor for 15 years. I enjoy my appointments with her. She ask if I have any questions and she takes the time to answer each question. She gives great advise and I can talk with her about any problem or issue. I have a great relationship with my doctor and I can not ask for more. Thank you Dr. Ashby and keep up the good work. Dr. Ashby gave me a diagnosis in a matter of seconds WITHOUT ANY TEST RESULTS! As a professional, she should have waited for the test results. As a result, she gave me the WRONG diagnosis TWICE and had me worried for my health for absolutely no reason. Because of this I changed doctors depsite being with Dr. Ashby for several years. She has an okay personlaity but unfortunately that does not cut it! She lacks knowledge in her profession. Please ladies mkae sure you research your doctors well.

Spends plenty of time with me and answers all of my questions. Finds out how I am doing.
