Dr. Karen Jean Poley, MD

I am a nurse for 45 yrs. Never worked with Dr. Poley. I have her to be very caring and an outstanding Practitioner. She always gets back to me with concerns. She recommended by 2 friends. TY Dr. Poley

I visited Dr. Karen Poley in 2018 for an annual exam. She is caring, professional and the office staff are extremely kind and welcoming. I recently moved to VA from Boston and have not yet found a new Gyno. Dr. Poley has been there for me in the transition and I can't thank her enough. I highly recommend her.

she gives too many tests, prescribes too much medication, and recommends doctors who need the money and not the best ones she knows.

she tries very hard to make you like her - i think so that if something goes wrong, you will not file suit. this is how a lot of gyn-obs 's are trained. my opinion is that i do not want to spend a lot of time talking to her. my opinion is that she orders far too many tests. my opinion is that she is more expensive than doctors at much better hospitals and with far better credentials. (I have a hgh deduct and ) I prefer other gyh-obs's more than i like her. once she did put something in my medical record that would make it harder for me to get medical care. i thought that was unnecessary. i would prefer to have a doctor who advocated for me.

without my asking her for recommendations, she has recommended 2 real loser doctors who obviously need the money

she seems to think that if you like her, she will lesson the chance that you will file suit. she is in a high risk specialty for malpractice. i am not looking for a friend and i do not think she really wants that either. i think she does too many unnecessary tests, gives too many un-needed pills, and takes up too much time trying to chat.

she recommends doctors who need the work, not the doctors that she thinks are the best. She tries to be a rainmaker for the hospital. She once put something damaging and untrue in the hospital's central file - it would have hurt me for future care at the hospital. She did take it out when I complained to her office. She denied doing it. That kind of behavior is , in my opinion, inexcusable. She tries to act like a friend, BUT she is NOT my friend. She seems to think that if her patients like her that they will not file suit against her. She is in a high- risk for law suits specialty. However, I do not like having to talk to her for such a long period. To me, this is business strictly business.

I overheard Karen talking poorly about my bidy....she is judgemental and very stuck up.

she tends to give tests that are not indicated and she knows they will not show any medical problem. she is better than she used to be about this. she recommends doctors who need the money, not the best doctors. i do not like this at all.
