Dr. Karen Sue Kinsell, MD

Dr. Kinsell is a very caring professional who listens to her patients and their concerns. She was my mother's PCP for several years and gave her awesome service.

In contrast to the two poor ratings of Dr Kinsell, which I was very surprised to see, I want to say I have found her to be the most compassionate and endearingly personable doctor I have ever had. I have been in Fort Gaines for five years. My first visit to her was right after I moved here. I had a cat scratch that was not healing well. At that time I didn't have any insurance; we were in the 90 day period before my husband's insurance would kick in. She didn't charge me a thing. When we got on my husband's insurance, she was not listed on the provider list. So, we went to Cuthbert for a physician, in the next county. During the two years I went to that physician, not one time did he check my TSH. I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. I have to be on medication for my thyroid for the rest of my life. I decided not to ask my physician about it. I just decided to wait and see if he was ever going to check it. After two years, and after an incident when my husband was disappointed… with the doctor for how he was treated (or not treated, actually), I told my husband of all the many praises I had heard of Dr Kinsell, and suggested he try her. He went to her, his first time ever to see a woman doctor, but he came home and told me he was really glad that I had suggested her. We both decided then, to change and go to her for our primary doctor. My husband had a copay on his insurance for doctor visits. That is what they collected from him when he went. The insurance sent me an EOB that showed they were not paying the bill. I called and complained to them, but it made no difference. And so for two years, whenever we saw her that was all she got paid for our visits. We have now reached the age where we have gotten on Medicare. We chose a Medigap policy so we can be certain she will be paid now when we go see her. She was not concerned with that...when I told her I was going with the company we chose, she told me to call a fellow and wrote down a number for me to be certain we were getting information from a Medicare representative, not a salesperson for the Medicare insurance. This doctor is a doctor that CARES about people. She cares about this small rural community. She is an excellent doctor, too. I can tell you there have been numerous people I have heard tell me she SAVED their lives. There is long waiting times to see her. The building is in disrepair. But her heart drives her to work 10 to 11 hour days. She took my hand in hers and asked me about my chronic pain. I was not prepared, and her sincere searching of my eyes when she did so caused me to react unexpectedly, even for myself. I burst into tears. And we talked about it, then. I read another review that said she has an awful bedside manner. I refute that statement. Before I moved here, I had a doctor I loved who was my physician for 13 years. I am very happy I have Dr Kinsell; she has been a wonderful doctor to me and to my husband these past three years. We intend to keep her as our physician as long as she is in practice. She is very highly regarded here in Fort Gaines; she has EARNED a stellar reputation as a really good doctor. She deserves for more of us to step up and offer our praise.

She has the worst bedside manner of any doctor I have ever seen. She even answered her phone and walked out of the room in mid-conversation. If you have access to better medical care, don't waste her precious time or brain cells.
