Dr. Karen Hummmer Lickteig, MD

Dr. Lickteig was raised as one of 7 children in Wichita, Kansas. After completing her undergraduate work at Kansas State University, she spent several years doing Biomedical Research in Houston, Texas. In 1991 she graduated from medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Her Pediatric Residency was done at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center; going on to practice Pediatrics with the Army in Germany for 3 years.

Dr. Lickteig settled in Portland in 1998, working in Pediatric Urgent Care, Emergency Room and as a Hospitalist through Emanuel Children’s Hospital. Because she enjoys her work as a Pediatric Hospitalist and assisting the training of medical students and residents she continues the practice a few nights each month. Since 1999 she has been happily practicing at Metropolitan Pediatrics.

Outside of practice Dr. Lickteig and her husband enjoy spending time with their 3 children and their numerous activities, reading science fiction, cooking and eating.
