Dr. Karen T O Pate, DDS

I went to Dr. Karen Pate for some fillings. After she examed my teeth she proceeded to tell me that not only would I need the fillings already scheduled for done but that also some of my old fillings needed to be redone. There was nothing wrong with them in the first place. She charged me 800.00 to do all my fillings. About 6 months later every single filling she did either broke or just fell out which gave me more problems. I called her office and they offered no solution. I had to go to a more qualified dentist to have her horrible work fix which cost me 600.00. My mother was also a patient of Dr. Karen Pate and she had some crowns done. My mother had the same issue and her crowns broke in less then a month. I took my mother to the same new dentist I went to and the dentist was shocked at the poor work she had done on mine and my mother's teeth. I would never recommended Dr. Karen Pate to anyone.

First, let me start off by saying that Dr. Pate is a very sweet Christian lady. Her staff is nice. If all you need is a teeth cleaning, by all means go visit her office. The problem arises when you need any dental work. I went in to get a crown put on one of my back teeth. Got the temporary crown put on and noticed that there appeared to be a hole in the temp crown on the chewing surface. Low and behold, one week later I can feel my heartbeat in that tooth it was so painful. Called Dr. Pate's office and they told me they did not have time to see me and they could call me in pain medication. Told them I didn't really want pain medication, just wanted them to look at the temporary crown to see if it looked ok. Couldn't even squeeze me in for a glance at it! Dr pate personally got on the phone with me and said she would call in a pain med and asked what I had taken in the past. Told her I had only taken demoral and lortab and that lortab had made me violently ill and made me want to claw… my own face off it itched so bad. She then told me that if lortabs made me ill it was because I wasn't taking them correctly and that she wasn't going to prescribe me demoral (made me feel like she was accusing me of being a pill popper)That I needed to eat before etc. Told her thanks but no thanks. My tooth was already throbbing, sure didn't want to add puking with my head spinning like the girl from exorcist. When I finally went in to get my permanent crown, sure nuff there was something wrong with temp. When they popped the temp crown off I could actually smell the decay that had either been missed when they drilled it the first time or was caused by the hole in the temporary crown. The tooth was so inflamed they could not completely deaden it even with a nerve block. They took an X-ray of the tooth to confirm I didn't need a root canal. They then proceeded to put my permanent crown on. It hurt so bad I nearly passed out several times and to be quite honest I wish I had. The permanent crown was way too tall and had to be ground down to the metal underneath the porcelain. She even had to grind on my good teeth above the crown to make it fit. In all fairness she did offer to have the crown remade, but I had gone through entirely too much pain for this to be a viable option. Three months later I was scheduled to go in for a routine cleaning which I of course cancelled as I was searching for a new dentist.....and guess what.....they sent me a bill for the X-ray they did to verify they hadn't caused me to need a root canal. The bill was only sent after I cancelled my appt and enough time had passed that they knew I wasn't going to reschedule. So now I am the proud owner of the ugliest crown that I have ever seen which I paid full price for, and I also get to pay for the X-ray

I have been going to Dr. Pate for 6yrs and I would recommend her to my family and friends. Her staff is so nice and they care. I love the Christian environment.
