Dr. Karen Kathleen Prentice, DO

Our experiences with Dr. Prentice have consistently been disappointing and discouraging. She comes across as dismissive, unbelieving of parents, and as if she has her mind made up before even seeing us. During a first newborn visit, rather than providing advice and encouragement Dr. Prentice used scare tactics to explain her recommendations and seemed upset we were not noticeably frightened by her words. Our child was found to be fine, and her desire for us to have anxiety and fear is confusing at best. The burden on pediatricians is immense, but bedside manner and empathy would go a long way and she should focus in improving those aspects of her care.

She is not a doctor. She has treated this patient poorly ever since they were a little toddler. When they had a severe allergic reaction, she did nothing to secure the child with pain medication or advice. They should have gone to the hospital and suffered tremendously for weeks. When this patient was going through a condition that causes skin reactions and more, this doctor did not prescribe reliable antibiotics. This patient had to go to a different doctor who would prescribe them modern and effective antibiotics - not from the 1980s. Dr. Prentice knows nothing on how to provide reliable care for her patients. When this patient had a severe sinus infection, she did nothing to help. No pain medications other than "use the ones from the store". This patient had to go to the hospital to get strong pain medication to finally relieve pain. The hospital made this patient feel comfortable and hopeful with great tips that Dr. Prentice would never think of doing. When this patient had come it… for a check-up, Dr. Prentice accused them of being unhealthy and overweight, making this patient feel insecure, triggering past feelings of a eating disorder she nearly had several years before. Dr. Prentice assumed that this patient's body was unhealthy when in reality, it was not. Since when is 140 lbs obese? For a teenager, that is "alright". Also, this patient has a different body type than the skinny, fragile body Dr. Prentice holds. Dr. Prentice has done nothing but disappoint this patient and has ruined their trust of doctors because of this let-down of a childhood they had.

I am an obstetrician and have known Dr. Prentice for years, and have referred hundreds of patients to her. Simply put, her patients love her. She has a warm and caring demeanor, and she takes excellent care of her patients. If you are looking for a pediatrician in the north valley of Phoenix, look no further!

This office offers the best customer service and the doctors are wonderful. It is refreshing to hear a person on the line when calling their office. I hate automated systems that make you feel like another number. The office is decorated for children and the staff is very nice. The office is always clean. Do yourself a favor and bring your kids to this office.
