Summary

It is an honor and privilege to help people and to co-create a space for people's pain to heal.

I believe that mental health is part of our whole health, and building a trustworthy collaborative relationship in which the client feels empowered to lead a healthy life is valuable. Today, we are all faced with great uncertainty and stress. Life's stressors can take a toll on us mentally, physically, socially, and spiritually. Life's stressors don't have to control our lives. I love inspiring people to move beyond life's stressors and thrive in life having peace of mind and heart.

I chose my vocation to become a family therapist in high school after a classmate committed suicide 2 months before graduation. I believed then and today that every person matters.

Earning a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, I went on to start my master's degree in counseling psychology at University of Nevada, Las Vegas and completed my master's degree from St. John's University in Springfield, LA. I first became a licensed marriage and family therapist in 1995 from State of Nevada. Prior to becoming a licensed marriage and family therapist, I volunteered for Clark County Suicide Prevention, worked as a case manager for a family shelter, worked as an MFT Intern at a psychiatric hospital; worked as a marriage and family therapist/drug/alcohol intern at a community counseling center that served the uninsured, HIV/AIDS and LGBT communities. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I worked at HMO practices and private practice. During 9/11/01, as a Crisis Management Consultant, I debriefed airline flight crews and their families.

In 2002, I moved to Colorado and took a break from my chosen career, knowing that I would come back to it again. As a volunteer, I had the unique opportunity to work with children with autism and other developmental disabilities in equine-assisted therapy programs for 4 years. As a Behavioral Educator, I briefly worked with veterans challenged with homelessness. On a broad scale, I worked in the public health field as a regional public health emergency planner writing and training for any disasters and serving all 500,000+ people living in a 3 county region. In the past 9 years, I have worked online helping people within organizations addressing leadership and change management issues.

Because of the pandemic, I knew the numerous stressors that would affect us all in the short term and long term. I reactivated my license as a marriage and family therapist from Nevada and obtained my license in Colorado. There is no problem too big or too small that we cannot work together to resolve.

It is my honor and privilege to be of help to all people. As a therapist, I was trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Client-Centered Therapy, Didactical Behavioral Therapy (DBT))Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Couples Therapy, Family Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing (MI), Grief & Loss Process, Crisis Management, Trauma-Informed Care, and Mindfulness practices.

As a student of life, I continue to learn and practice Reiki with shelter animals, resiliency, the positive healing effects of Mindfulness techniques, meditation, spirituality, prayer, mind/body connection; and the positive healing effects of Reiki, art, music, animals, nature, and movement has on our whole health and well-being.
