Dr. Karina Bortnik

Dr. Bortnik was recommended to us to diagnose my disabled family member with autism. The family member can neither live on his own or support himself. He has never shown interest in having a child, and has the idea that babies can be “sent back” if parenthood doesn’t work out. Anyway, Dr Bortnik took it upon herself to recommend to him (unsolicited advice not part of what we asked her to do) that he father a child because “everyone needs love in their life”. No consideration of the welfare of the child, or the burden placed on the family. She needs to take her personal prejudices out of her practice and show more consideration for different lifestyles and patient needs.

I started seeing Dr. Bortnik in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic. Our sessions take place virtually which is different from how I expected therapy to be. I am surprised and taken back by how helpful these sessions are. I don't think the work we have been doing could be any more productive and cogent if met in person. Dr. Bortnik is exceptional. She has just the right combination of experience, willingness to understand and openness. 5 stars!

I was referred to this practice by my pain doctor. I was amazed at how quickly Dr. Bortnik was able to see me. On the phone, I mentioned that due to stress and uncertainty of whats going on, my pain increased and meds were not working as they did before. Dr. Bortnik scheduled my appointment the next morning. I thought that it was very thoughtful and caring especially in these times. We decided to use EMDR for pain and stress. Competent and caring doc!

I recently decided that I would check out my advertising and see where my referrals are coming from. I canceled several of them that do not send me clients on a regular basis. for more than one reason. Of course, the first reason is that you send me clients often. The second is because you offer so much to the therapists who advertise with you. The articles and information on this site are wonderful. She assists in finding effective approaches for helping you understand yourself and deal with individual challenges in a safe environment. Dr. Karina Bortnik is an exceptional therapist. She is perceptive, intelligent, compassionate, and effective. I have been a patient of Dr. Bortnik for over seven years, and she has helped me through several difficult experiences and predispositions. She has helped learn what it means to be my best self. Dr. Bortnik is a first-rate psychologist who aids me tremendously with issues following my second brain tumor regarding post-chemotherapy cognitive impairment. She has insights into me which are striking in their sensitivity and accuracy. Karina always deals with me with compassion, and I never doubt that she addresses me in a straightforward matter. Usually, she gives me "homework," or topics to consider between sessions. Her assignments always indicate how I should feel about specific issues, and help to guide me into the right solutions.
