Dr. Katherine Anne Sparger, MD

My daughter had a prolonged stay in the NICU likely due in part to a medical error that occurred during Dr. Sparger's service. When I expressed my worries about new symptoms I noticed after the medical error unknowingly occurred, she dismissed my concerns. When the medical error came to light, she did not address the error with me nor did she apologize other than to say a safety report would be followed.

Dr Sparger is what we think of when we picture the ideal MD. She possesses the 3 C's: competent, compassionate and caring. Graduating from a top notch medical school and an attending physician at a world class hospital--Brigham and Women's Hospital--she is intelligent and hard working. However, even a great resume and GPA cannot reveal a physician's commitment to her profession or bedside manner. When you meet Dr Sparger you immediately are touched by her sincerity and carng, compassionate nature. She seems to take great joy in healing and helping her patients. In short, some doctors view their discipline as a career, Dr Sparger appears to view her profession as a calling!
