Dr. Katherine Victoria Yao, MD

I have been seeing Dr. Yao for years and completely trust her judgment. Dr. Yao is a compassionate, caring doctor who thoroughly explains the consequences of my health condition, provides recommendation for its improvement or resolution and answers all my questions. When I see her, she listens carefully to my symptoms, examines me, reviews my history and current status (test results, MRIs or scans), rates my condition, offers prognosis and prioritizes concerns/treatments. I will always seek her help.

First time seeing Dr Katherine Yao was an excellent experience. She listened intently, was very attentive to my concerns and questions. She took time to examine my injury with an ultrasound and clearly explained what she found. I felt very reassured that my condition was being addressed.

Dr Yao is terrific! She listens compassionately and provided me with various treatment alternatives. It's great to have a doctor who really cares and has the knowledge to help her patients.

Dr. Yao is an absolute pleasure to meet. She's quick, efficient, and comprehensive. I had fractured my pinky finger and was concerned that I'd need surgery, then relieved to find out I just needed occupation therapy. Likewise, for chronic back pain from surgery outside of HSS. I wish all hospitals were run this thoughtful and with similar high end equipment. Thank you

Dr Yao actually listened to me. I have ehlers Danlos syndrome and often find doctors down playing my pain and offering no help. She listened. Got my an MRI and found the herniated disc causing the nerve pain. She helped me get custom PT and a medicine to calm my nerve. I would recommend her to anyone with EDS. She will listen to you and find solutions. Yes those solutions may be in part PT but she will customize it to your needs and find medicines if needed

Dr Yao is a gift to patients. She is so present, wise, kind, and wonderfully knowledgeable. She listened to my story and examined me. She knew exactly what to do, including an ultrasound of my quadriceps injury right there in her office. And she performed the ultrasound herself! She talked with me as she was looking at the images, explaining what she saw, for which I was hugely grateful. She gave me very clear instructions as to how to proceed to take care of the injury at home. I have been Dr Yao’s patient for many years and she has always been a tremendous resource for my musculoskeletal issues — and I have many! Thank you, Dr Yao!!!

Dr. Yao accurately diagnosed my leg condition in my first visit with her AND she gave me a very detailed treatment plan for my leg going forward! Ive seen many other doctors previously and NONE provided a proper treatment plan Bc the other specialists were not familiar with my particular leg condition. Dr. Yao is highly knowledgeable about my condition AND therefore was able to give me “next steps” in how best to start a treatments plan to a road to recovery! I cannot thank her enough for her valuable expertise. She also has excellent bedside manners. If u are looking for a highly knowledgeable & caring doctor, this is the doctor for you. I say she’s exceptional bc she’s done what no other previous doctors provided me to treat my leg. Highly recommend Dr. Yao! I am so thankful that she is my doctor!

Dr.Yao is a very knowledgeable and compassionate Doctor. She actually listen to you. She respects your opinion. Dr.Yao also takes her time with you. Thanks to Dr.Yao I found out what was nagging me for months. She put a plan together for me that pretty much cured me.
