Dr. Kathleen S Brunts, MD

I found Dr. Brunts very easy to talk to, understanding and compassionate. Her staff, on the other hand, was extremely opinionated, contradictory and less than helpful. They would ask a question then tell me the answer was incorrect!! That's why I left.

I would give zero stars if I could to this doctor and her entire office staff. I was recently incorrectly billed $146 for a regular office visit when I only scheduled for an annual checkup which was 100% covered by my insurance. However, despite telling them several times that I only came for a checkup, they still listed it as a regular visit and charged me. I was bounced around by different office departments; none of them were willing to help me with my concern.

I've been seeing Dr. Brunts for the last 15 years and the last 3 years or so have been down hill. Long wait on doctor every visit and lack of compassion and consideration for patient and employment needs. For years I felt she was great and suddenly she has lost her zeal to practice i've beeen over weight for years thru her guidance she encouraged me to lose weight once I did I can in for visit and before even checking file began to advise I needed to lose weight upon explaining I had she checked file and stated oh you still need to make sure you maintain did not apologize for her failure to review record. The she blatantly told me she has no desire to deal with FMLA paperwork or process she feels it is ridiculous and if it were up to her she would charge hundreeds of dollars to complete. This was after telling me my abscence from back issue from hip bone fracture was FMLA qualified.

A friend recommended Dr. Brunts to me when I was searching for a primary care doc with my new insurance. I learned too late that my friend knows very little about quality health care. When I needed care for depression which had become debilitating, I called Dr. B's office. I was told that they weren't sure that they wanted to do anything about it. I explained that Dr. B was listed by my insurance company as my primary and I needed her to see me and assess the situation before I could get treatment in any other setting. After days of hemming and hawing and hesitating, they finally agreed to give me an appointment. When I finally saw Dr. Brunts, she was cold and distant and completely uninterested in why I was there. She tossed a completely inappropriate prescription at me and swept out of the room without so much as telling me to make a follow-up appt or see someone else. Mind you, I was suffering serious depression and nothing looked good to me, but even in my lowest state, I… understood that as a person who was sick, I deserved the very basics of attention and care from a doctor who was getting paid handsomely for her time. When I needed a change in my prescription and called the office, I was put on hold for 20 minutes until someone came on and told me that Dr. Brunts "was not interested in treating me" for depression. No recommendation or referral to another treatment venue, nothing! I was stunned. I have worked in administrative support for health care for 25 years and have never seen a doctor treat a patient so poorly. I am a low-maintenance health care consumer and do not call my doctor for every little thing. I am well-educated about my health and I understand what is appropriate for a patient to expect, and Dr. Brunts is completely unequipped to deliver anything close to compassionate and understanding care to a person in need. Whenever the subject of doctors, health care, insurance or patients' rights comes up, I make sure that people I'm speaking with know what happened to me under the "care" of Dr. Kathleen Brunts.
