Dr. Kathleen H Burford, MD

Dr. Burford diagnosed my daughter with urinary tract reflux that other pediatricians in town had failed to recognize. She was medicated for the issue which prevented endless urinary tract infections, and eventually my daughter grew out of the problem and did not need surgery.....and now that kid is grown up and working on her Ph.D. in the sciences. Dr. Burford WILL tell you how it is, but frankly, I loved her honesty. If you want someone who will tell you the truth, and how things really are-she's your doc! And for those who don't like her 'rude comments'--sometimes the TRUTH hurts...so perhaps you should simply go examine your issues, and make some positive changes if your child is struggling because of parental relationship issues-I tend to imagine that what Dr. Burford said was most likely pretty accurate. So rather than be offended, humble yourself just enough to get it together and make positive changes for your child--you only get one opportunity to raise your child and if you… make a mess out of them, they will need a lifetime of therapy no doubt. We love Dr Burford. Have been going to her since daughters were born, they are now 11 and 13. Both of my girls are on the Autism Spectrum and one has ADHD as well. She tells you how it is, without sugar coating it. If you want a Herbalist/Naturalist, you are going to the wrong type of MD. I myself want to hear the blunt truth, which is sometimes very hard to hear. I have seen other MD in the office, but only when she is not available. When a situation has been very serious, she will call me herself to follow up and see if I have any other concerns. Her Assistant Tricia is wonderful as well. Like another parents review, it was very late in the day or evening. In my opinion she goes well above beyond what is expected. With this office there is often a wait (For any of their MD), and can be up to an hour or more, but you do have to remember Emergency/Urgent cases often go in front. This office can see up to 100+ Children a DAY, (I asked her once) She does breeze in… and out during well checks-so make sure you have your list of questions if you have concerns.

Dr Burford is an excellent Dr. I have a special needs son and she has gotten him in for testing quickly and then has called me back well after office hours (one time after 8) with the results. She is a "tell it like it is" Dr. She doesn't sugar coat. If I ask her opinion about something, she gives me an honest answer, whether it's what I want to hear or not. She is friendly and knowledgable. With 3 VERY active boys, we tend to go in about every two months or so. Her nurse is awesome. The staff has never been anything but friendly to us. The wait is LONG, but it's well worth it, in my opinion. It's a busy office and is to be expected.

I strongly recommend parents to avoid this doctor. Dr. Buford attitude is disgusting, and very unprofessional. I recently had an appointment for my son, Dr. Buford is pro ADHD medication. I asked her a numerous questions about it, and the cognitive steps I should take with my son.. After remark about my personal life with my sons mother. Buford stated "after being around this family, he going to need a lot of help." I was offended by her comments about my personal life, I told her to mind her business and continue with the appoint. She said " you asked my advice." That's when i told the good doctor I will be recording her conduct. This doctor mannerism is disgusting. There are many complaints about her actions. I wanted to inform other parents not give this doctor any business..

My son went to visit Dr. Burford today because he still had a cough after two weeks. I was very concerned about his health because my girlfriend and her mother, who are both white, don't run the heat in the winter time. They keep the thermostat on 76. According to Dr. Burford, cold air does not cause colds and only people make people sick. She also thinks that we should keep the thermostat on 72 degrees. Keeping a house 72 degrees and inhaling cold air goes against everything I've been taught. The fact that I have caught numerous colds living with these two polar bears running the air condition 24/7 in the summer time, even when it is not hot outside, and not running the heat in the winter time leads me to believe there are a lot of crazy people living in Nevada, doctors included. Nevada education is working when common sense is missing. What's next Dr. Burford? Pneumonia?

Dr Burford has been my son's Dr since the day he was born. He is now 10 and I would never want any other Dr. Being an older mother with a young son I am a little more demanding. My Daughter takes her son there also and Loves Dr Burford. Excelent Dr. and well worth every minute we have to wait to see her. Which usually isn't that long. Highly Recommend.

A BIG BULLY NEEDS TO LEARN BEDSIDE MANNERS SHOULD NOT BE WORKING WITH CHILDREN PLEASE DON"T TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO HER THE"LL NEED COUNSELING AFTER

Very poor approach to children. Attacks them for their imperfections. Don't take your children to see her unless you have an appointment with a therapist afterwards. Office staff is rude. Waited 2 hours past our appointment time to be treated poorly. What a shame such a person is a pediatrician.
