Deeply Concerned About Dr. Katie Kellogg’s Handling of My Mother’s Care I was present at my mother’s final appointment with Dr. Katie Kellogg on January 6th. My mother, having lost over 50 pounds in six months, was severely malnourished, depressed, and openly expressing a lack of will to live after a devastating personal loss. She was crying, desperate for help, and asked for assistance with both a Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order and admission paperwork for assisted living—her clearly stated wishes. Dr. Kellogg refused both requests. Instead of addressing the severity of my mother’s condition, she dismissed her declining health, telling her only to “eat” and that labs would be “monitored.” This was after six months of obvious physical and emotional deterioration and multiple requests for depression assistance whether counsel, medication or consult. Ten days later, my mother died. Dr. Kellogg did not prescribe medication to assist with appetite control nor assist with counseling for… her 28 year relationship that suddenly came to an end, which broke her heart immensely. The lack of compassion, urgency, and medical intervention was shocking. A physician’s role is to listen, advocate, and act in the best interest of the patient, especially when the patient is in crisis. In this case, our family begged for help, and my mother pleaded for her wishes to be respected—yet nothing meaningful was done. My mother’s suffering was visible, preventable, and ignored. No family should ever experience this level of indifference from a healthcare provider.

I don’t write reviews often but sometimes it’s just the ethical thing to do to help others avoid unacceptable treatment. Dr. Katie Kellogg and her physician assistant at TMC One Wyatt have failed on all counts to provide reliable, trustworthy and appropriate medical care. Long waits, inflexible scheduling, and lack of knowledge pertaining to new and effective drugs to help with insomnia left me in a risky situation. Dr. Kellogg and her very rude assistant did further damage to an already untenable situation by not refilling necessary prescriptions in a timely manner. Because I asked why the doctor was so late in filling my presciptions, I was never even given an explanation and then one day received a letter that she was no longer going to be my provider. I didn’t even get a referral and it left me in a precarious situation especially since I’m taking a blood thinner and was forced to go to the emergency room to have an INR done.

A doctor who is not only incompetent but is uncaring about the welfare of her patients.
