My son was her patient in Iowa in 2013. Before his surgery, I asked her if there was a way to leave any of his excess foreskin instead of discarding it after it was used for his repair. She scoffed at me, made me feel stupid, like that would be unnecessary and not useful. Turns out she was wrong because here we are seven years later. He’s had two more operations with someone else and has needed a skin graft. If she would’ve listened to me and not made me feel stupid for even asking, maybe we would’ve had foreskin to use for subsequent repairs. Guess what, his last repair also failed because they couldn’t take enough buccal skin. So he’s going to have to go through this all over again. Sometimes being kind and understanding goes a long way.

Dr. Kieran is very straight forward and concise. She doesn't mess around. She flat out told us our daughter should have been better by that time, if she was going to get better on her own, and that surgery was the best option. We put our daughter through the awful VCUG again just to make sure she still had a problem. Sure enough she did, and had gotten worse. We immediately opted for the surgery. Dr. Kieran did a fantastic job. Any time we have concerns we call and someone always calls back quickly, sometimes more than once to recheck on us. Her partners are awesome and call evenings and weekends just to check up on how we're doing.

We have seen Dr. Kieran several times. She is very good with my children, and is always available to answer a question via email or phone. My only complaint is that our first appointment was four months away. I called her office since my son was getting worse and she saw us that week.

Dr. Kieran was very good with my son during his surgery. It can take some time to get an appointment, but once you are there, things go very smoothly. Dr. Kieran is very direct but wants you to be an educated patient, so she spends a lot of time explaining the problem and the different ways to treat it. She responds quickly to phone calls and emails and never makes me feel like I am bothering her.
