Dr. Kathleen Weiss, MD

I'm a man in my mid 50's, the kind of guy who hasn't spent a lot of time in Dr's offices in my life. I found Dr Weiss to be a very good Primary Care Dr. for me. I went in for an initial physical with a few specific health care areas to discuss. Dr Weiss spent a LOT of quality time getting to know me and gave me a good overall physical exam. Primary care Dr's these days seem to be kind of a gate keeper that will refer you to specialists, and Dr Weiss gave me top notch referrals. I have read some bad reviews on different New West Physicians Offices around the Denver area. I really have had a good experience with the New West Physicians office people. Appointments are easy to make, Easy to change. I show up to my appointments on time and they always get me right back to the exam rooms very quickly. I did have to wait for Dr Weiss on my first visit for a few minutes, but she spends the time she needs to with you, so if she's a minute or two late, it is because she is giving good care to… the person before you. On my follow up visits I had hardly any wait at all. Dr Weiss is a bit of a laissez faire Dr. and I mean that in a good sense. She lets you make your own decisions about health care without brow beating you or telling you how to live your life.I would say, if you're not used to dealing with busy Drs. Before you leave, tell the Dr a summary of what you think is going on so you can both be clear on what she has told you or prescribed for you. New West has a very good Patient portal website and EVERYTHING is listed there about your care, so it's easy to look at any test results you have or what is prescribed for you, also listed are your appointments, and you can email the Dr directly, and they will email you back.

I was suppose to be a new patient on 9/16/15 and waited over a week to get seen.I was told over a week ago, that my insurance WAS accepted and after waiting, in severe abdominal/pelvic pain, was told after driving to my scheduled appointment, today, and waiting over an hour while filling out paperwork, that my insurance was NOT accepted .I think this action was very unprofessional and was even told by the front desk, that i could change my insurance company of United Healthcare, which I am NOT doing! I will be going to an emergency room again in excruciating pain!! Very disappointed in this office!!!

There have been a couple of times that I have had to wait for over an hour to see Dr. Weiss, but when I have needed extra time because of something weird going on she is always willing to take the time with me to figure it out also. She is a great doctor and spends the time with her patients to listen to them. I would even travel all the way across town when I moved to keep seeing her. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doctor, she has a great bedside manner and believe me I would know I have worked with many doctors over the years. She has an awesome staff working with her from the front to the back.
