Dr. Kathryn Coan, MD

Everyone I came in contact with was fantastic, especially Dr. Coan! She had so much energy, enthusiasm, and seemed genuinely eager to review my problem and come up with a plan. She was kind, professional, and had such a positive attitude, which is in stark contrast to the first surgeon I saw in another hospital system (Dr. Coan was a second opinion visit). I am so happy with her, I've decided to stay with her office. She demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience in her field that gives me full confidence in her abilities. She's really a gem and so down to earth as far as surgeons go. Hope you guys always keep her!

Dr Coan was more than great in walking me through all the steps of my thyroid condition, in which she performed with her great staff and fellow Drs and Nurses and Techs who made me comfortable while there this past week, to remove a massive goiter Her surgeon skills are tremendous, she takes the time to speak with you and is comforting and compassionate. Highly recommended,

Dr Coan removed my thyroid. Found out shortly before the surgery that it was not going to be the average run of the mill thyroidectomy. Mine had grown down into my chest cavity, and created the possibility of the need for a thoraxic surgeon also to be available just in case. During our pre surgery appointments found her to be very easy to talk with. She made me feel very comfortable. Genuinely caring and interested in what was going on in my life. We were leaving for a vacation to Hawaii 2 weeks after the surgery. Because of that she worked very hard to get the thyroid out of my chest cavity with as little cutting as possible of my chest. Thoraxic surgeon wanted to split it open further to make it easier. Dr Coan knowing how important the vacation was to us was able to get in with her slender hands and fingers to remove the nodules without splitting open my chest. If she had not done that, I would have had a much longer recovery as well as miss out on a vacation my wife and I… had been planning for over 1 year. Could not recommend her more highly. She is very respected in her field as well as truly caring for her patients.

Dr Coan recently performed an adrenalectomy for my mom, who had been suffering from Cushing's syndrome. Our experience could not have been better. She took the time to really listen, was very thorough in the work up, knew her stuff and delivered high quality care. She is not the typical surgeon who brushes you out the door before you understand what's going on. I highly recommend!!
