Dr. Kathryn Margaret Schat, MD

I came into the ER at Long Beach Memorial with what I thought was a hernia that was in fact a serious infection. Dr. Schat aggressively treated it and was very thorough and thoughtful about carefully going through my complicated medical history and my long list of medications. She is obviously very knowledgeable about rare diseases and more important contraindications in some of my medications and how they could be adversely effecting my present serious medical condition. Without her competent and quick intervention I am convinced that my infection would have quickly worsened and even become life-threatening. I usually go to Torrance Memorial because it is closer to my home but going forward If I need to go to the ER I am going am going to use Long Beach Memorial and if I am very fortunate will hopefully be under the care of Dr. Schat.

She was the doctor for my dad when he stay for hospital for 3days .and she was very helpful and she took good care of my day.very happy to have such a wonderful doctor when we need the most.

Dr. Schat recently saw my mother at Norton St. Matthews. My mother had suffered in pain for over 36 hours before Dr. Schat took over her care. She immediately came in with a plan to keep her out pain and did exactly what she said she would do. She actually talked to us about every part of our mothers condition and what we could expect. Our mother died the following night pain free. It was such a comfort to know that she cared about her patients and their families. We could never thank her enough.
