Katie Mayhan (Kim), DO, was inspired at a young age by her father – a physician – to pursue a career in medicine. But it was her own “phenomenal” pediatrician who sparked her interest in caring for young people.
“It’s the long-term care that I get to provide my patients,” said Dr. Mayhan, who sees pediatric patients at Methodist Physicians Clinic. “It’s being able to see them grow. When they’re sick, it’s about seeing them bounce back and adapt to obstacles – whether it’s mental health concerns, a broken ankle or sore throat.”
She has particular interests in female adolescent and newborn care, and she’s a big advocate for get-to-know-you-visits – especially for first-time parents.
“It’s so important that I understand your needs and concerns so that I can address them,” she said. “It’s even more important that you feel comfortable in choosing me as a …pediatrician.”
