Dr. Kavita Singh Karlekar, MD

Dr Karlekar is an excellent Doctor that I have been seeing since 2008. I went to her for pain in my back. She did labs and a physical exam and told me she wanted me to have an MRI now. Within an hour of having the MRI completed she told me I needed to go to the hospital immediately as I had a mass on my spine. For the next two months she oversaw all of my hospital care and management and within six months I returned to work. This was the start of a 13 year relationship in which I have nothing but respect and admiration for this Doctor. She makes great use of her time by delegating return calls to her nurse who responds quickly to my needs. I have referred a number of my friends to Dr Karlekar and all have been as pleased with her care as I have been. I have now moved to another state but every six months I return to Nashville to see Dr Karlekar.

I was really disappointed. I felt both times I saw this doctor after my initial physical the diagnosis I received was inaccurate . Almost like she had to look it up...sorry that was my gut reaction. I asked about a medicine I had been taking prior to pregnancy...if it was ok...she told me no take a different one. I much later (after getting second opinion, and doing some research) found out the medicine I had been on was only a Class B, where she moved me to a Class C...and from what I understand Class C's are considered higher risk during pregnancy. She was also bad about returning phone calls, always the nurse calling back. She's pleasant but feels inexperienced. I've moved on.
