Dr. Kavita Mahajan-Merritt, DO

One star, only because I can’t give a zero star rating. Just witnessed (and got on video) the worst case of malpractice I’ve ever seen in a birthing room, including intentionally disconnecting monitoring while claiming she can’t find the baby’s heartbeat. Please, for the safety of your baby and to avoid birth trauma- stay so far away from this doctor, if it’s at all possible. If she’s the “doctor” on call- cross your legs, sign an AMA and go to another hospital. She’s careless with her words, will intentionally manipulate positioning to cause decels (no one HAS to push on their left side when the rigt side is tolerated better by baby), then wheel a mother out who is crying that she doesn’t consent to a cesarean when she’s already at the pushing stage. And to avoid getting caught, this doctor will push for birth photography and any cameras to stop, so there’s “no documentation.” Too bad. People need to know there’s a butcher at Care for Women.

Do not go to this doctor. I had an easy pregnancy and was very healthy but at my 38 week appointment I showed every sign of preeclampsia ( headaches, major weight gain, high blood pressure, couldn’t walk) and she assured I didn’t have preeclampsia. Two days later my baby died and I almost died of preeclampsia when my placenta burst.

Dr. Mahajan-Merritt was careless, under educated and dismissive (likely due to being under educated). It's sad that at the very least she didn't make an effort to compensate her incompetence by being more attentive. She provided no patient education and rushed the appointment which required a 2 month wait to be seen for some concerning issues. I also waited over 50 minutes past my appointment time in the waiting room. (And to be clear, I don't mind a wait for a doctor that is willing to spend an extra minute addressing my concerns but this was not at all the case with Dr. Merritt.) I left the office completely baffled. I'm 37 years old and I have never in my life seen a doctor this terrible.

Dismissive and careless. Provides no patient education.

I went to Dr. Mahajan-Merritt with serious concerns. When these concerns were not addressed I complained. After I complained I was dropped by her as a patient. That was fine with me. However, she stated that I could not see any physicians at Care for Women. I have been going to that facility for years. Her behavior is both unethical and unprofessional. I will be following up on this.

I love Dr. Mahajan! She delivered my second daughter after she left Her health care. She listens and takes her time with you. I do think it’s the office staff are a little short and depending on which nurse you get on the phone, might make your experience a little frustrating. I think they have too many patients but it’s a big industry so anywhere you go it’s going to be like that. I love Dr. Mahanjan she is sweet and a great doctor

I went to dr Merritt in 2010 as a new patient. She was very patient and comforting about my situation.

I'm so happy I transferred out of this office! I hated coming here, they messed up getting all my bloodwork done on my first visit and then she didn't even go over my baby anatomy ultrasounds just said the baby looks good and all she read was the paperwork of the ultrasound not even the actual picture or video! And then a couple weeks before that I got the cold and called her doctors office because she is my primary physician with me being pregnant and her nurse told me to go to my primary physician or a clinic inside Walgreens because they don't treat that! I was so sick and they couldn't even say take something for the cold! I'm so relieved I am no longer seeing her as my obgyn!

Continuum of care non-existent; Emergency c-section scheduled so DO could be home over holiday weekend; almost lost my adult daughter when she had my granddaughter

I went to her for a pap smear, which was the most painful I have ever had. After the appointment I explained to her that I get bad reactions to high dose birth controls and needed a low dosage, she ignored me and gave me a high one anyways, I had a series of unbearable aura migraines. I then used her for an iud insertion. The first appointment I made as I left the office from my pap smear I wrote it down immediately and then when I showed up two months later I was told I had no appointment. I explained I had made it months prior as I was going out of the country and it was time critical. That was ignored. When my iud was put in, It was the most painful thing I have ever experienced.I nearly blacked out. I have never had kids and no local anestetic was used. I also was not told what to expect before arrival and was not told to take pain medications. She did not do a metal allergy test, and it turns out, I had an allergy to the iud. She did not do a fitting before ordering it and waited… until insertion. After insertion she immediately left the room and said nothing. Because of the time allotment I had a two week checkup instead of a 6 week check up, Since they decided to not honor the appointment I had made months prior. Very disappointing. The check up was with the older doctor named Dr. Pinckert, she was gentle and wonderful. I then scheduled the removal and my well womens with Dr. Pinckert in May. When I arrived for my appointment in November, They tried to force me to use Dr. Mahajan, I declined and left. They then attempted to bill me. I would not recommend her to anyone.
