Dr. Kay Donna Barney, DO

I chose Dr Barney as my pcp. She ordered lab work and other annual exams, which I complied. She however would not refill my prescriptions. If anyone else experiences this same problem...then please report it to the nkc hospital patient advocate. They need to know of this issue.

Withheld records for months. Took attorney threatening her with legal action multiple times to get them. Also my brother went to her for trouble swallowing and losing weight.told him just stress.within few months couldnt swallow at all.Lived less than year.Throat cancer.Have you seen her desk? Papers just everywhere.piled high.When wears sandals can see how dirty her toenails are

DR Barney Cares more about patient care then any thing else. And she gives excellent care she shows careing and paitcnces

Dr Barney treats you like a patient not a number! She cares and wants you healed!she had a great personality and knows her medicine! You can call her at home after hours ! And response back asap! She is everything thing you would want in a family Dr.

Was my PCP for 26 years, Lately been very sick and she didn't seem to be able to figure out what kept making me sick, went to my husbands Dr, ordered tests and diagnosed me withing a month or so from 1st visit to diagnosis. I am applying for SS Disability, she wont provide my medical records cause she's mad at me for switching PCPs. Very unprofessional to with hold (and not legal) my medical records from me OR my new PCP.

Patient for years. Left due to rude, condescending, dismissive attitude. Usually late. Likes to write scipts for new drugs. Office usually has drug reps there. The upside is she will give out samples. Ok if you have a common ailment and need to be seen quick. If you have health issues, need diagnosed and a doctor with communication skills who will listen to you go elsewhere. Since leaving we are off meds we didnt need and I have had two surgeries for issues I eas told there was nothing wrong with me.

She seemed really nice and spent alot of time with me. However, most of that time was spent telling stories or jokes. She also recommended that I take calcium pills (or tums everyday), which really surprised me because she knew I'm taking multivitamins. She said Asians & Latinos need more calcium. I'm neither...I'm caucasian! I found it annoying that she would even advice something without getting all the patients info. She also wanted me to try this new medication because it "might" work better for me. I have been on my current meds for 7 years now so i didn't understand why she wanted me to try this new one. She just said it might be better and for me to come back next month for her to monitor. I wasn't confident on her advice so I went to see another doctor. He was surprised why Dr. Barney recommended this med bec the side effects are greater and it counteracts with my other meds. He told me to stick to my usual meds and explained more about my condition. I have found my new doctor… who I'm more comfortable with my healthcare.

Dr. Barney mis-diagnosed my child 3 separate times and had the nerve to blame me as a parent. I took him to a specialist she recommended and he agreed with me. Upon hearing this news Dr. Kay Barney told my other children that I was a terrible Father. She also told my son that he needed to quit exercising because it caused his asthma to flair up. Completely untrue, exercising actually helps open his lungs. To get the medical reports she told her staff to charge me $10/page. Since I have found an excellent Dr. who got the medical reports from her. I can report since leaving Dr. Kay Barney my son is in much better health.
