Dr. Kelley Ann Farmer, MD

I've been seeing Dr. Farmer for almost 10 years. She has been a fantastic doctor who has listened and worked with me throughout those years. I really like her stance on minimizing medications as appropriate and showing concern for my entire wellbeing. The guidance she has provided has enabled me to take action to improve the quality of my life and relationships. She has my whole-hearted recommendation! Her office staff has been friendly and very accommodating with appointment scheduling and changes that are sometimes necessary. The telehealth appointments have also been great for my schedule. Not having to drive to an office location has saved me time in my day.

Dr. Farmer is the best psychiatrist I've had. Not only is she competent and she prescribes medications appropriately, but she genuinely cares about her patients. Don't be fooled by her brusque demeanor. She's not a pill pusher - she asks about your whole life and recommends changes to sleep, diet, and exercise, as well as recommending supplements that are not prescription drugs. But she's also good at diagnosing people with the correct illness and prescribing the best medication. She doesn't try to rush you out the door, but lets you take your full time there.

Seeing her over 10 years. She is a VERY GOOD Dr. The first doctor to treat me for a condition without making me feel like a criminal. I make my appointments and show up "on time". If you want to have a counseling session...go see a psychologist. She is a psychiatrist and on that note, does an amazing job evaluating, diagnosing and prescribing meds. I have seen many others and I want someone who knows what they are doing and she does.

Dr. Farmer's interest is in writing a prescription and billing. She shows very little interest in developing a relationship, rather she has you sit on a couch often times cluttered with magazines and journals, in an office with stacks of periodicals on the floor. Her bedside manner is very cool, lacking warmth or compassion. I wonder why I continued to see her for several years, although I only saw her twice a year. Even though my meds did not change, she insisted on providing a script for 6 months, so she could bill me for another visit to ask "any changes", "how about the dosage" --and little else.

She is a very well informed Dr. and she is up on all the latest studies and reads all the current journals. She is also an advocate of certain vitamins and a more holistic approach as well as prescription medications. She looks at the whole picture.

She's detached. She doesn't connect. I don't feel like she's really listening to me. She doesn't hear me or really ask me questions. When I ask her questions about medicines she doesn't seem to know answers. She's nice, but not really personable. I recently switched meds and I'm struggling with dosage, etc. and it's like she doesn't understand why I'm struggling. Like what I'm telling her doesn't fit into stuff she's read about that med, therefore what I'm telling her doesn't make sense to her.We agreed to up the dose on this new med and had a whole phone conversation about it. She told me to up the dose 50mg. When I got to the pharmacy the new script that was called in was the same dose that I already had. When I called the dr. office to ask them to correct it there was lots of confusion because Dr. Farmer's notes said to call in a prescription for the same dose I already had! Once again I felt like she wasn't present. Her head often seems elsewhere.I commented to the pharmacist that… I didn't like Dr. Kelley Farmer's services, but couldn't afford to change doctors, she "Oh, yeah, we've had some problems with her calling in questionable scripts before."

My previous experience with another doctor was completely different than my experience with Dr. Farmer. He would prescribe whatever the pharmaceuticals were pushing at the moment and had a terrible bedside manner. It appeared he did not keep up with the research. He was covered by my insurance at the time; but that was the only plus.My experience with Dr. Farmer is that she saved my life. She accurately prescribed a drug regimen that stablized me; for which I had not been stabilized in years. She geniunely cares about me as her patient and she is up on her research with many suggestions and information for me. She saved my life two years ago and was geniunely concerned about my well-being. The only thing is she doesn't deal with insurance companies but she is worth every dollar I spend.

I was formerly a patient of Dr. Spencer's. This Dr. is so cold, not personable, has no compassion and I was not allowed to mention the person's name that was causing me serious stress since she is also a patient. It was an awful experience. She must torture littens and pull wings off flies for entertainment

I would not recommend this doctor. She is not at all personable and every time I went in for my 15 min med check, I felt like I was inconveniencing her. She didn't seem to care about me as a person at all. I also had MANY problems with her not calling in prescriptions, giving the wrong amount of refills, and even charging me for calling in a prescription because I was due for an appointment (even though I already had one scheduled at the time). I have never changed psychiatrists unless I am moving to a new city, but this will be a first.

She did not recognize a traumatic side effect of my prescription- she implied that I could not possibly be experiencing the symptoms I described, though a quick google search revealed that they were not uncommon. I felt that she trivialized my concerns about my diagnosis and treatment.
