Dr. Kelly Marie Spence, MD

I came to LifeStance positive about a better future and left more upset than I had been before. Dr. Kelly Spence diagnosed me before she got to know me. It was within the first 20 minutes of my very first session with her that she came to the conclusion. She is a blunt person which is ok, but when dealing with mentally ill people you need to have some empathy. Take this from a pre-med student. Her tone is cold and her words are full of arrogance. I sincerely do not recommend her to anyone going through a hard time. I asked for accommodations and was told that I'm avoiding doing the work. As if I've not been working hard to deal with my mental illnesses on my own. She acted as if I'm taking the easy road out and dragged her feet on doing anything. I want to thrive, not survive and that's what I'm working towards. That's why I was in her office to begin with. It felt like we were having an debate the whole time. I was advocating for my own mental health to someone who was supposed to… be advocating for me. I had a page of notes to refer to when in the appointment and I never used it once. She never inquired about symptoms or about any other problems I may have had. At the end of the appointment she told me if I didn't like her services I could find someone else in the office or a different practice. She said she realizes she's not everyone's cup of tea. Definitely canceling the next appointment and getting a second opinion. The only good thing about this experince was that the office environment was peaceful and the desk staff were nice.

Nearly caused a loved ones nervous breakdown. Avoid
