Kelly Walthius, DO

Dr. Kelly Walthius is a family medicine provider who believes that preventive medicine is the absolute key to health and longevity. It is her goal to work collaboratively with her patients to seek health and wellness for all.

"Seeing a physician before and illness will actually help to prevent illness," she said. "I remind patients that the choices they make about their health are their own, but it is my role to guide them and advise them on what steps they can take to prevent disease and promote wellness.

Dr. Walthius approaches each patient as an individual with specific needs.

"I have learned over time that a doctor-patient relationship is not one-size-fits-all," she said. "Some people come to their doctor looking for a friend, others a therapist and other a coach to hold them accountable. I try to fill those roles sufficiently where I can. What I promise to each of my patients is to come from a place without judgment. I promise to approach their care with suggestions and treatment …plans based in evidence that is up to date with current guidelines. I always try to work collaboratively with patients, never to criticize, always to motivate."

Dr. Walthius grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. She received her bachelor's degree in Spanish from St. Louis University and is now fluent. She remained in Missouri to attend Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, and went on to complete her family medicine residency at the Cleveland Clinic. Upon graduation, she moved to Dallas where her husband was completing his own residency.

After working in an outpatient family medicine office for three years, she and her husband moved to Tucson to make it their home. They have fallen in love with the community and are excited to grow their family here.
