She received her Masters (MS) in Pediatric Dentistry in 1991 from Baylor College of Dentistry. She was a Fellow in Pediatric Dentistry at Children's Hospital of Dallas, Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas and the Denton School for the Mentally Retarded.
Her advanced programs …include training in general anesthesia, various sedation techniques, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), pediatric dental trauma, care for children with special health care needs, and much more. Dr. Houston did her studies and wrote her thesis on Craniofacial Morphologic Characteristics of Spinal Muscular Atrophy in Children with an emphasis on growth and development.
Dr. Houston is a volunteer with Kids In Need of Dentistry and on the board of advisors with Smile for a Lifetime. Through these organizations she is able to provide pro bono care to those children who are chosen. She is a major contributor to the Healthy Smiles Foundation and a member of the International Association of Dentists. She has been chosen by the readers of Colorado Parent Magazine as the Family Favorite Pediatric Dentist in Colorado for the last 3 years. She was also selected as a Top Dentist for 5280 Magazine in 2004, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011.
Dr. Houston belongs to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Colorado Dental Association, and the Metro Denver Dental Society. She is the past President of the Southwest Society of Pediatric Dentists as well as the MDDS, Arapahoe Chapter. She currently serves on the Ethics Committee for the Colorado Academy of Pediatric Dentists. Dr. Houston is on staff with The Children’s Hospital and Sky Ridge Medical Center.
