Dr. Ken Yamaguchi, MD

Husband has had 2 shoulder surgery with Dr Yamaguchi and last one with Dr chamberlain they are excellent and I recommend to friends and family

Dr. Yamaguchi's staff was prompt and curteous. Quite an accomplishemnt considering how busy the BJC/Washington University Med Campus is. I first met with a Fellow who completed preliminary discussion and exam. I was impressed with the time Dr. Yamaguchi took in listening to my problems, explaining my alternates and answering my questions. I plan on using Dr. Yaguchi for my shoulder replacement operation and would recommend him to my friends and family. Wait time was about 4 weeks for an appointment and 3 months to schedule surgery. Perhaps it could have been shorter had I been an emergency but this schedule was accepatble to me.

All that I can tell you is what my experience was. Dr. Yamaguchi's reputation seems most important to him. I originally went to Dr. Y after my original surgery failed with another surgeon. He had me take a nerve test to ensure the previous surgeon, Dr. Tessier did not damage my nerves. Nerve test verified no nerve damage prior to Dr. Y's surgeries on me. Over the next 3.5 years Dr. Y did 3 open reconstructions on my shoulder. Each of his 3 surgeries kept failing. My severe chronic pain did not cease and seemed to get worse. Its been 3 years since Dr. Y's 3rd attempt to fix my shoulder. My severe chronic pain has nearly destroyed my life. The pain itself has caused depression, loss of my career, financial issues, a horrible life. We tried everything to reduce my pain. Recently in 2012, i saw a neurosurgeon. He discovered that I had extensive nerve damage done during Dr. Yamaguchi's 3 surgeries. Neuromas developed which cause inaccurate pain signals constantly. This was… reason for my chronic pain and I probably did not need all 3 surgeries. Dr. Y never re-tested me for nerve damage after any of his 3 surgeries, nor did he suggest nerve damage was the reason for my pain. Instead, the year after his 3rd surgery, he rejected me and denied me any office follow visits. His nurses told me he could not help. Actually, I think that he did not want me 'around' because I may hurt his good reputation. This is just part of it. Dr. Y's bedside mannor is non-existent. Proceed with caution.

I saw an orthopaedic surgeon in Columbia, Missouri who would not touch my shoulder my injury was so bad. He referred me to Dr. Ken Yamaguchi who successfully transplanted tissue to my shoulder so that I may move and use it with minimal pain. Unless I am doing extreme landscaping or scrubbing, I am pain free. It is a miracle that I am able to use my shoulder and work again. I recommend Dr. Yamaguchi to everyone who needs a shoulder surgeon who knows what he is doing.

Went to another surgeon regarding a shoulder problem who was shocked at Yamagucci's suggested surgery. I was given a $2000.00 bill after being mislead that the charge would be part of a study and I would not have to pay it. The man is not interested in patients,See another Doctor and save yourself a lot of problems! He is all about self promotion, and not patient care.
